Assistant Vice President, Energy Programs

Job Profile Summary

The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas (“Bank”) is seeking an Assistant Vice President (AVP) to contribute to its strategic energy priority. The AVP will help establish the strategic direction of the bankwide energy initiative, provide collaboration of program areas, and advance the outward-facing energy work undertaken by the Bank. The ideal candidate will be an experienced energy thought leader with an entrepreneurial mindset and an extensive background in the public and private sectors. The position will report to the initiative’s Senior Executive Sponsors through the Bank’s Community Engagement and Development function.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Executive Leadership Team and the Executive Sponsors to advance the Bank’s strategic energy initiative and related programs.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders within the Bank, across the Federal Reserve System, and among external advisors to support high-quality and integrated output in alignment with the Energy Initiative Strategy.

  • Provide strategic direction and coordinate contributors. Analysis areas will include energy finance, traditional energy, and the energy transition.

  • Conduct extensive outreach efforts with energy executives, analysts, investors, non-profit organizations, and regulators to inform the Bank’s understanding of the energy sector.

  • Advise Bank President and others on energy market, industry, and transition developments. Play the role of “connector” for energy stakeholders and senior Bank leadership.

  • Contribute original, relevant, timely analysis on target subject areas with blog posts for the Bank’s website, articles, and public speaking/presentations to priority audiences.

  • Lead the development of the Energy Initiative’s “agile contributor” model, establishing methods of working that effectively integrate expertise and capacity from across the Bank.

You Have:

  • 15+ years’ experience in energy market and policy analysis, consulting, or energy industry management with progressing levels of responsibility.

  • Deep understanding of the intersection of energy markets and policy, macroeconomics, corporate finance and geopolitics. Demonstrated thought leadership through senior executive briefings, an established public speaking record, blogs, and professional association involvement.

  • Experience developing new business lines, hiring and supervising staff, and setting and meeting organizational benchmarks and goals.

  • Extensive network and ability to further develop high-level contacts within the energy industry, public officials, and non-profit organizations.

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to relate and communicate at all levels. Exceptional customer-service orientation with the ability to influence across the organization. Extensive experience and comfort with frequent public speaking.

  • Ability to manage and navigate multiple stakeholder interests and forge agreements on strategic direction and outputs.

  • Understanding of the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy function and the role of energy sector information and analysis in the Dallas Fed’s contribution to the Federal Reserve System’s analysis of trends in energy.

  • Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics, policy, finance, or related majors.

  • Ability to travel up to 20%.

  • We use a hybrid work schedule that allows remote work but requires on-site work (in the office) based on business needs.

  • This role will be based in the Houston branch of the Dallas Fed; ability to work onsite in the Houston branch a minimum of 3 days per week is required.
