Position Overview

The Asphalt Paving Quality Control Field Technician (Level 1B) will work a field position to support operations on a large highway project located in Fort Worth, TX. As a Quality Control Field Technician for Kiewit, you will monitor and conduct Quality Control/Quality Assurance testing for the placement of asphalt mixes on the roadway in accordance with TxDOT Test Procedures and Specifications to ensure that the finish product meets client specification requirements.

District Overview

Kiewit's South-Central District is one of Kiewit's leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. Projects you could work on with this group include mass grading, drainage, paving, underground utilities and more. Although most of our work is regionally based in the south-central region of the United States, we also pursue various projects stretching across the United States. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry as opposed to engineering design.

Location

This person will support operations on a large highway project in Fort Worth, TX.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects required of a Level 1B Roadway Specialist.

  • Perform testing of asphalt materials for conformance to requirements.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of various test procedures for asphalt.

  • Provide understanding of TXDOT and local municipality specifications.

  • Works with foreman, superintendents, and direct supervisor to address quality related issues.

  • Report test results to management and recognize failing materials immediately.

  • Ability to understand asphalt property relationships.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 – 2 year(s) of experience in Asphalt paving industry preferred.

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Certifications issued from HMAC for Asphalt Level 1B and AGG101 are preferred. Training can be provided for the ideal candidate.

  • Ability to obtain certification(s) within 6 months.

  • Ability to gain additional certifications to support project testing and inspection as needed.

  • Computer Skills: Experience with Microsoft Office products and some ability to adapt to other computer software.

  • Working knowledge of construction industry.

  • Capability to work construction hours during high seasons.

  • Self-starter with exceptional organization and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

  • Ability to work successfully both individually and as a team to meet deadlines and project goals.

  • Ability to lift up-to 50 pounds.
