Job Description:

To provide primary health care services in a clinical setting under the supervision and direction of a primary care physician in one of the following areas; geriatrics, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology (including family planning) of adult or adolescent health. Responsible for the performance of tasks of a standardized nature which are complex and require considerable experience of specialized training, but which do not constitute the practice of medicine.

Minimum Qualifications:

Healthcare provider licensing requirement:

Current registration with the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners and approval to practice as an advanced nurse practitioner or current Texas Physician Assistant license.

Completion of a Physician Assistant Program/Physician Assistant, National Commission within 1 year of employment.

Current CPR certification (Issued by American Heart Association provider.)

DEA license for positions that require the writing of scheduled medications.

Experience requirement:

One year of primary health care experience as nurse clinician or practitioner.

One to three years’ experience practicing as a Physician Assistant in a medical

setting with full prescriptive authority.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in nursing, including prescribed course of study in health assessment and clinical supervision. Current registration with the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners and approval to practice as an advanced nurse practitioner.

Current Texas Physician Assistant license

-Completion of a Physician Assistant Program/Physician Assistant, National Commission (w/in 1 year of employment)
