SUMMARY:
The Accounting Supervisor will oversee and perform senior-level accounting functions, including financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with established policies. You will supervise a team of accounting professionals, guiding them in maintaining accurate financial records and improving accounting systems. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the organization's financial strategy and ensuring sound fiscal management.

Key Responsibilities:
- Contract and Expenditure Monitoring: Ensure compliance with contract terms by examining billings, fiscal data, and eligibility determinations. Evaluate expenditure data and make projections to ensure appropriate use of funds.
- Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of monthly and annual operating statements, financial statements, and reports. Review fiscal expenditure reports for accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness.
- Budget Management: Lead the preparation of the agency's operating budgets and ensure that expenditures do not exceed budget limits. Oversee the allocation of state and federal funds to operating programs and ensure proper financial matching.
- General Ledger and Accounting Systems: Prepare and review general ledger entries, reconcile financial transactions, and maintain quality control of accounting systems and files.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, direct, and evaluate accounting staff. Provide guidance and support to ensure accurate and timely financial operations.
- Other Ad hoc Tasks Based on Business Needs and Grant Requirements
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible to the Chief Financial Officer and Controller.
QUALIFICATIONS
:
- Proven experience in accounting and financial operations, including experience in supervisory roles.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budget management.
- Ability to supervise and lead a team while maintaining effective communication and collaboration.
- Familiarity with governmental accounting standards, including GASB guidelines, is a plus.
Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities effectively.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Experience in accounting and financial operations. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, or a related field is generally preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from group of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of modern algebra, and statistical theory.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Knowledge of general and fund accounting principles and practices, state financial management requirements, and relevant Federal, State and local laws, rules, and regulations.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities to: Ability to interpret and make decisions in accordance with existing laws, rules and regulations; communicate at a highly professional level with all staff levels in both oral and written forms; prepare complex documents and reports, manage time and organize work to meet agency and legal deadlines; use computer software such as Microsoft Office products Word, Excel, Access, MIPS accounting software a plus, other software as needed to perform job functions.
