BorgWarner PowerDriveSystems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Sr. Engineer, eHW Engineer at our Gwanggyo Office mainly and DaeGu Technical Center or Changnyeong plant temporarily, Korea.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Key Member of an engineering development team supporting the system/hardware feature with cross-functional development teams, component leads, and customers.

  • Perform customer requirements analysis.

  • Simulate customer reported issue for product improvement and resolution.

  • Member in operating the High Voltage Product test equipment.

  • Collaborate with both engineering and quality/manufacturing teams to resolve product observation.

  • Work in close cooperation with the electrical design and manufacturing teams to design the best hardware solutions to meet or exceed customer requirements.

  • Participate in Power Electronics hardware designs related to On-Board Chargers, DC-DC Converters, and Inverters.

  • Design support will range from study and conceptual work on advanced thermal and packaging solutions as well as being able to take a complete power electronics electrical concept involving semiconductors, capacitors, magnetics and high voltage and high current interconnections to mechanical product concepts.

  • Drive engineering competencies, suppliers, and customers to ensure commitment to internal quality processes

during development, execution, and verification.

  • Key member of a technical analysis, trade-off studies, FMEAs, design reviews and customer presentation for the defined features & solutions.

  • Work closely with the systems modelling team to drive a simulation-based approach, where feasible

  • Support the definition and continuous improvement of systems engineering processes, methods, and tools.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electronics Technology with a preference for Graduate Degree in Mechanical/ Electronics Engineering or related field such as mechatronics with special interest in electronics.

  • Minimum 3 years in mechanical/electronics/software design / manufacture in Power Electronics industry (Power supplies, Industrial drives etc.)

  • Experience developing Power Electronics for EV’s and HEV’s preferred.

  • Experience with High Voltage Product test setup and automotive instrumentation tools.

  • Familiarity with electronics packaging and thermal management and trade-offs especially in the design of switching supplies and converters.

  • Effective presentation and documentation skills with ability to engage constructively with the customer.

  • Familiarity with automotive industry performance norms and safety standards and high voltage design rules.

  • Previous experience in automotive component reliability, failure analysis and structured problem-solving techniques will be an asset.

  • Solid ME CAD skills – preferably experience with Siemens Unigraphics NX.

  • Experience with FEA tools including Ansys, etc.

  • Active engagement in a multi-disciplinary, diverse design team spread across the South Korea, Asia and worldwide.

  • Strong mechanical software design and analytical skills with passion for creating innovative compact and thermally efficient power conversion systems.

  • Though design effort will involve EE expertise for the electronics software side, a good working background in this area from the electrical side will be highly beneficial towards accomplishing timely and successful designs.

  • Some travels within South Korea and overseas is expected.
