The Audio and Media Technologies (AMT) team, at the heart of Apple’s innovative products such as iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watches, AirPods, HomePods, Apple TVs, and Vision Pros, is seeking a highly skilled video codec machine learning engineer. Joining a small, dynamic team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping future video coding standards and driving the development of innovative video compression and processing technologies for both current and future Apple products. This position requires a highly motivated individual with exceptional analytical and creative problem-solving skills, as well as a rapid learning ability.

Description

Your responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to, the following: Conduct research and develop novel video/image compression technologies. Contribute innovative techniques to image/video coding standards. Design, implement, and optimize image/video compression and processing algorithms tailored to various use cases. Collaborate effectively with experts in hardware and software.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Deep understanding and strong experience in video coding standards, e.g. H.265/HEVC, H.266/VVC, AV1, or AV2.

  • In-depth knowledge of rate control, and video codec optimization.

  • Deep understanding and extensive experience in designing and optimizing neural networks.

  • Excellent software design, problem-solving, and debugging abilities, strong programming skills in C/C++.

  • Experience in image or video processing is a plus.

  • Familiarity with the latest advancements in machine learning, generative video technologies, and computer vision would be highly valued.

  • Excellent collaboration skills and strong written and verbal communication skills are also desirable.

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
