Allegany County Board of Education Administrative Coordinator of Community Schools in Cumberland, Maryland

POSITION: Administrative Coordinator of Community Schools

DEPARTMENT:Student Services

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education and Student Services

SALARY:Unit IISalary Scale (12 months)

Qualifications:

Education/Training/Experience:

  • Masters Degree required
  • Three (3) years of successful experience in education, counseling, administration or related field required
  • Knowledge of the Maryland Community Schools initiative
  • Familiarity with community agencies
  • Familiarity with grant guidelines/expectations, fiscal management and monetary expenditures
  • Management/Supervision experiencepreferred
  • Knowledge of Restorative Practices preferred
  • Coaching experiencespreferred

  • Knowledge and use of culturally responsive practices
  • Demonstrated success in leadership positions
  • Ability to make decisions independently based upon experience, judgment, and established departmental procedures and policies
  • Advanced verbal and written communication and human relations skills
  • Ability to handle confidential and highly sensitive information in a professional manner
  • Ability to build trust and maintain relationships
  • Management and organizational skills that show an ability to prioritize, work under time constraints, and demonstrate flexibility in an environment of multiple tasks and shifting priorities
  • Ability to make regular visits to homes, schools, other locations, and state meetings
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manages resources and budget at the district level related to the COP grant
  • Leads, observes and evaluates staff as assigned
  • Serves as a member of the student services administrative team
  • Assists with preparations, communications, and management of COP grant reports
  • Works collaboratively with community agencies
  • Develops and facilitates a district advisory group focused onevaluating the community school needs assessment and implementation plans
  • Coordinates the collection, review and action planning of student performance data including overall and chronic attendance and withdrawals
  • Helps facilitate data-driven conversations regarding discipline and suspension
  • Oversees the needs assessment process for community schools
  • Oversees the coordination of wraparound services, including behavioral health services, to meet identified student, family, and community needs for community schools
  • Furnishes and interprets information/data on at-risk students
  • Oversees student/family case management and outreach for community schools
  • Assesses student challenges using data from available sources and seeks the assistance of other specialists, as needed
  • Supports the implementation of Restorative Practices
  • Participates/leads workshops, special committees, job-embedded professional development, and orientation
  • Oversees the coordination of the After School Programs at the district level.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
