The Content Publishing Operations organization is responsible for delivering on-time and defect-free content publishing to our global customers. To enable this charter, the organization plays a crucial role in managing operational performance, detecting risks and defects to drive proactive mitigation efforts, and ensuring the seamless publishing of content to our platform. Currently, the organization supports +50 distinct workstreams across 4 global sites to create a 24*7 operations network.

To effectively manage this dynamic and complex network, we are seeking a Sr. Program Manager to lead the global labor planning and labor allocation strategy, and “run the business” mechanisms to support organizational initiatives – all in an environment of rapid growth and increasing complexity. This role will further take on the responsibilities to establish global labor resource management mechanisms and evolve current resource planning strategies in alignment with cross-functional teams (Operations Program, Intake, Site Leadership, Recruiting, Finance), analyze headcount data to drive business recommendations, and lead cross-functional initiatives including tool and product launches. This role demands a high capacity to Learn and Be Curious, Invent and Simplify, Bias for Action, and Deliver Results as we need to be continually adapting to the fast-moving environment and play a critical role in driving productivity through human resource management.

As decisions made by this role can have a significant impact on labor placement, associate experience, business performance, and overall costs associated with how well the labor plan balances between the site and the network level constraints, we are looking for candidates who are highly analytical, understand complex systems, and can influence a global set of cross-functional stakeholders impacted by labor planning.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead labor planning and labor allocation

  • Create, maintain, and publish the global labor planning and allocation source of truth

  • Drive cross functional teams by defining strategies on headcount management best practices and processes

  • Deliver simple, scalable solutions to difficult problems including manual headcount management processes and resource demand planning

  • Define, report, and enhance global labor capacity status to surface continuous improvement opportunities and influence input driven enhancements.

  • Recommend, develop, and implement policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and profitability

  • Take proactive steps to ensure that best practices in labor planning and allocation are shared across cross-functional stakeholders

  • Work with data source providers and technology teams to ensure that key decision data is accurate, automated, transparent, and timely

  • Leverage Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) dataset to nurture ideas, and rolling them into the creation of improvement plans for supply chain planning and execution

  • Conduct complex data analysis, and identify patterns and trends in headcount data

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in workforce or resource planning

  • 5+ years of cross-functional project delivery experience

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience

  • Professional experience using Excel and other data-tracking tools

  • Clear and effective verbal/written communication skills with internal and external stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the Digital Supply Chain, Program Management or Program Management with large global organizations

  • Expertly gather, organize, interpret, and leverage data to tell a story and influence decision making among stakeholders and leadership

  • Advanced data visualization skills, including complex Excel queries, formulas, and pivot tables. Experience using Tableau or AWS QuickSight.

  • Adept at learning and adopting new systems, tools, and technologies to build efficiency

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, design, and marketing/business counterparts to deliver online products/services

  • Ability to understand customers and their behavior in order to drive new feature development

  • Must be able to think creatively, deal with ambiguity, and effectively manage changing and competing priorities

  • Strong attention to detail and end-to-end ownership to drive results, even with incomplete or imperfect data

  • Proven ability to operate independently in a fast paced, highly ambiguous, and global organization

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate difficult stakeholder interactions

  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

  • Master’s degree

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $245,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
