Cuyuna Regional Medical Center * Anesthesia Crosby, MN Clinical & Technical Full Time, Professional FTE: 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period) Weekend Requirements: No weekends Posted 07/08/2024 Req # 13288 POSITION SUMMARY The Anesthesia Technician will function as part of the anesthesia team by assisting the anesthesiologist and the CRNA during the administration and maintenance of general and regional anesthesia., by maintaining, calibrating, and trouble-shooting various anesthesia-related equipment; and by stocking and maintaining par levels of all anesthesia supplies and drugs. The primary objective of the anesthesia technician is to assist the anesthesia team to provide the safest and most efficient care possible. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED required. Graduate from a recognized EMT-Paramedic training program, a minimum of 1 year Surgical Technologist or Surgery Aide experience or completion of Anesthesia trainee program required. Additional training in health care and/or direct patient care, preferably in an acute setting. A minimum of one year experience in a health or patient care related field. License/Certificates: Minnesota Paramedic, Surgical Technologist license or Anesthesia Technician certification certification required if applicable. Current American Heart Association BLS certificate required within 30 days of hire. American Heart Association ACLS or CALS required within 4 months of hire. Special Skills and Aptitudes: Ability to solve problems and implement solutions effectively. Effective interpersonal relation skills. Ability to adapt resources to the needs of the situation. Ability to perform routine and complex procedures. Ability to organize, systematize and prioritize multiple tasks. Capable of following and implementing verbal and written instructions. Applied science principle knowledge as related to hygienic, safety, blood borne pathogen, and body substance isolation procedures. Ability to properly operate all equipment required for this position. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES According to manufacturers' instructions for use (IFU), maintains, calibrates, and troubleshoots equipment. Stocks and orders anesthesia supplies and drugs in all operating and delivery suites. Cleans and disinfects anesthesia equipment according to frequency protocols. Maintains adequate supply of portable medical oxygen, nitrous oxide, and air. Understands and adheres to strict aseptic and sterile techniques. Assists with the following procedures by performing delegated tasks related to: Pre-oxygenation and intubation, arterial and central line placement, regional anesthetic (spinal, epidural, blocks), ultrasound examinations, pain blocks, obtain blood products and pharmaceuticals, intravenous insertions, bronchoscopy, assist with patient diagnostic testing that includes, but not limited to: ABG's, phlebotomy and other point of care tests, assist with anesthetic procedures in outfield locations such as MRI and Radiology. Consult operating room schedule to anticipate supply and equipment needs for upcoming procedures and ensure their readiness for use by anesthesia providers. Maintain current on inventory of anesthesia equipment by rounding in other facility departments on a regular basis. Attend continuing education programs and staff meetings. Understand and follow all safety policies and procedures within the surgery department. May be asked to serve as an instructor/facilitator of education programs for other surgical/clinical staff in areas related to anesthesia equipment and monitors.
