OVERVIEW
The role is accountable for site operations facility with 250-500+ union employees who refine, package and distribute a high quality food product. Reporting to the site VP/GM role, the Assistant General Manager must ensure operations meet safety, food safety, quality, cost, volume and service criteria. Executes strategy to achieve short and long-term operating and profit goals. Directs administration of policies for site within context of companywide policies. Implements and drives execution of continuous improvement principles. Helps to formulate short and long-term operating procedures in areas such as quality improvement, cost reduction and manufacturing/processing efficiency. Develops and implements plans to achieve appropriate production volumes and profit projections. Ensures that product quality and safety standards are met within budgetary limits. Develops future talent and leadership. Provides reports to VP/GM to review progress against goals.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures safety and regulatory compliance.
Leads manufacturing facility focused on continuous improvement and delivering world class sustainable performance.
Provides guidance to site leadership team for continuous improvement initiatives.
Provides adequate support, training and development of plant staff.
Directly supervises, motivates and evaluates site leadership responsible for refining and packaging activities, materials, and warehousing.
Creates reports for manufacturing cost controls, cost estimates, capacity plan, manpower and facility requirements.
Monitors manufacturing and financial performance and implements corrective action planning when needed to meet company objectives.
Implements Food Safety Quality Control functions to meet the Company’s Quality System requirements.
Assures continuously updated line standards, the identification of bottlenecks and the proposals to eliminate.
Helps develop, review, modify and implement operating systems in sanitation, safety, quality, preventative maintenance, general manufacturing practices and best management practices.
Develops and builds capability of plant personnel, including support of performance and talent management activities
Ensures that entire staff has the safety, customer, and quality as the overall focus.
Develops plans for implementing continuous improvement manufacturing principles.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Professional Experience – 10-20+ years’ total professional experience with progressively responsible and growth.
Production Management Experience – 5+ years’ experience in production management having had responsibility for managing departments and a minimum of 100+ direct and indirect reports with budgetary responsibility of at least 15M-20M/ annually.
Food or Similar Industry Experience – Food, beverage, pharmaceutical or CPG industry experience in a manufacturing environment preferred or a combination of food manufacturing with manufacturing experience in other similar industries preferred
Continuous Improvement – Demonstrated track record of understanding and applying continuous improvement principles and practices including Lean Manufacturing, 5-S, and/or Six Sigma.
Safety – Responsibility for managing safety and environmental performance
Quality – Ideal candidate must have had a track record of responsibility for managing to high-quality standards including SQF in Food Industry or ISO in non-food industry.
Unionized Workforce – Experience with unionized workforce strongly preferred.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Related Discipline.
Masters or MBA highly preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Assistant General Manager could have responsibility for 250-500+ direct and indirect reports.
MOBILITY
Candidate must be mobile for future assignments across ASR Group locations in 2-5 years. The length of time in the initial assignment will be dependent on the scope and responsibility of the vacancies that emerge across ASR Group.
SALARY RANGE
$159,500-$296,000
