Green Hills AEA Behavior Consultant (2025-2026) in Creston, Iowa

Green Hills Area Education Agency is looking to fill a Behavior Consultant for Rising Hope Academy classroom in Orient Macksburg for the 2025-2026 school year.

Qualifications: Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in education, psychology, social work or related mental health career field required. Must have or be able to obtain Iowa licensure with the Board of Educational Examiners.

Experience working with young people in an educational setting is preferred. Previous experience or training in behavior management and crisis intervention and prevention preferred.

Essential Functions:

Provide crisis intervention and behavior management services to students and their families. Serves as a member of diagnostic teams; member of educational planning and placement committees; provides liaison services for students to teachers, administration, community agencies and family.

  1. In coordination with staff, parents, or guardians, develop and monitor implementation of behavior intervention service programs for students.
  2. Provide direct intervention services to students in cooperation with teachers, agency staff, physicians, and parents.
  3. Participate in and provide input to individual education teams for students.
  4. Plan and implement skills for successful lessons that are focused on student behavioral needs
  5. Assist classroom teacher in implementation of core and SDI instruction
  6. Collaborate in planning and implementation of core curriculum for classroom
  7. Monitor student intervention programs for appropriateness and effectiveness.
  8. Recommend appropriate and proven intervention methods for individual students as needed.
  9. Establish positive relationships with students and adults.
  10. Provide social skill training (Skills for Learning formerly known as Social Emotional Learning) and assist students in implementing skills for successful integration in their least restrictive environment.
  11. Acts as a liaison between school and outside resources.
  12. Provide information and support to parents.
  13. Provide collaborative services to classroom teachers.
  14. Assist in collecting, tracking and entering in ACHIEVE student behavior progress and programs implemented to achieve desired behaviors.
  15. Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, and other school staff when designing appropriate behavior interventions for individual students and the classroom setting
