The successful Manufacturing Engineer will focus on welding and fabrication processes for New Product Introduction, responsible for the development and embedding of new products within the Craigavon facility for all things Welding and Fabrication related. Key accountabilities will include:

  • Lead NPI Welding & Fabrication Engineering for all new projects effecting the Craigavon facility.

  • Planning and Co-ordination of New Product / Review Gate projects from concept to successful implementation.

  • Working closely with our Design Team to ensure truck concepts are DFM friendly, provide guidance on MFG capabilities and improvements such as Poke-Yoke, slotting & tabbing parts for self-locating and part commonisation.

  • Working closely with our Corporate MFG team to ensure new tooling is ergonomic, safe, automation friendly with a right first-time ethos whilst being delivered on time to support project need.

  • Coordinate, lead and delegate NPI project tasks accordingly with cross functional departments such as Product Design, Tool Team, Fabrication Team, Materials /Kanban, Quality, Innovation and Procurement team.

  • Support and help maintain capital projects including PAR and Capex creation.

  • Take ownership and provide support to resolve issues identified at pre-production builds and work with the relevant departments to deliver ICAs and PCAs.

  • Partake in virtual builds for new designs by drafting both graphical and text product sync concepts, reviewing 3D models for MFG concerns and advising accordingly.

  • Follow HYMH guidelines with line designs and layout changes.

  • Develop accurate, safe, and cost-effective manufacturing processes using HYPull (DFT) metrics and process ECNs to document material and time mappings.

  • Research, develop, justify and work with external suppliers to deliver machinery & tools to support new processes.

  • Implementation of Manufacturing Engineering requirements to meet global schedules for Major Projects

  • Leading specific NPI sub tasks from initiation to conclusion including organising teams, planning, tracking, delegating and meeting milestones on time within cost targets.

  • Supporting general Manufacturing NPI Engineering activities.

  • Additional responsibilities as needed for business purposes and development opportunities.

  • Occasional travel (mainly Europe, occasionally to USA) will be required from time to time.

In order to be considered for this position, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet the following essential criteria:

  • Educated to HND / Degree level in an Engineering related discipline with a minimum of 1 year's Engineering experience in a Manufacturing environment (Relevant experience gained through an industrial placement will be considered).

  • Alternatively, we will consider candidates who hold an HNC level qualification in an Engineering related discipline with a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in a Manufacturing environment

  • Strong Leadership and communication skills

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages Excel and PowerPoint

  • Proficient in the use of 2D and 3D CAD

Desirable:

  • Experience in Autocad and Siemens NX

  • Experience / knowledge of robotic welding

  • Experience in manual welding within manufacturing sector
