Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

Perform routine maintenance tasks in response to requests following equipment or facility failure, or in support of modification or update. Follow all safety regulations and precautions. Participate in weekend coverage of the plant on a rotating basis with other maintenance workers. Diagnose and repair equipment in a timely manner. Read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and repair directives to repair failed or failing systems. React to emergencies with a sense of urgency. Participate in preventative maintenance programs. Collaborate as part of a team, sharing information and knowledge. Maintain grounds as directed by the Manager of Facilities/EH&S or Manufacturing Team Leader III. Follow schedules and plans as required. Retain records of work performed. Order parts on occasion. Deal with internal and external technical support professionally. Maintain the maintenance area, tools, and supplies according to 6S practices. Properly perform assignments and handle products, tools, and equipment prudently. Level II or III must have 10 or more years of experience, an electromechanical background, and system fault isolation to the element or discrete component repair. Handle and manage hazardous waste generated in their work area properly. Willing and able to work overtime as necessary. Acceptable attendance is an essential function of the position. Perform other duties as assigned or required by the position.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Coxsackie, New York.

Work Environment

Working conditions are 100% manufacturing environment. Regularly required to work near moving mechanical parts. Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and airborne particles. Noise level is usually loud. Hearing protection is required. Safety glasses (ANSI Z87 compliant) required in all manufacturing areas. Fully enclosed shoes of solid, leather construction with a steel or composite toe cap (ANSI Z41 compliant) must be worn in all manufacturing areas.
