DESCRIPTION: The Director of IT reports to the City Manager and is responsible for overseeing the\ technology infrastructure and systems of the City, including overall System Administration and\ supervising and managing IT staff to ensure technical solutions and innovations in support of software\ and hardware, operating systems, advanced PC applications, and Internet and website services City-wide\ improve operational efficiency and comply with IT regulations and industry standards. Ensures the current\ information technology needs of the City are met and develops and implements a plan for future needs.\ Responsible for maintaining and utilizing detailed knowledge of local and wide area network hardware\ and software, network technology including server and workstation configuration, operating system\ installation, and system maintenance City-wide.\ CLASSIFICATION: This is an exempt, full-time, classified at will position with full benefits that serves at\ the pleasure and will of the City Manager.\ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may\ include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. Monitor, maintain, and improve on departmental and City-wide information systems, network, cyber\ security and technological infrastructure.
Maintain the Citys network and systems and track statistics on the efficiency of those systems;\ propose changes that will advance the Citys infrastructure.
Manage and develop the IT Staff, manage long-term IT projects, assist with daily IT tasks.
Manage all Information Technology contracts and consultants City-wide Develop and implement\ policies, procedures and documentation relating to Information Systems and cyber-security Citywide.
Maintain statistical information regarding Information Systems, usage, and analyze collected data to\ identify and address opportunities for future improvements
Provide project status updates and monitor project goals
Develop the annual IT budget and capital plan to include operation and maintenance costs, capital\ cost, and contractual costs for the entire City organization that maintains and improves IT\ infrastructure and aligns with the Citys strategic plan
Identify and manage potential technology upgrades and improvements and create plans and\ procedures to implement, assist IT staff in the implementation of the upgrades.
Develop, maintain, and oversee Cyber Security plans and systems for the protection of City\ information systems assets and track the efficiencies of the system
Develop training programs for City staff on Cybersecurity, website maintenance and IT programs.
Develop, implement, and oversee IT strategic plan to include alignment with City strategic plan
Ensure that information systems support and training is available for all City Departments
Ensure that there is 24X7 on-call support for critical information systems
Provide technical support and troubleshooting to City staff
Monitors and maintains the Citys help desk ticket system and insures prompt service and solutions
