Job Summary
The INTO OSU – Intensive English Program invites applications for one or more fixed-term, non-tenure track full/part-time Instructor positions to teach on a term-by-term basis for the 2024-2025 academic year. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Director. Some of these appointments may be reviewed for renewal or transition to an instructional position on an annual basis at the discretion of the Director.
This position will teach English and English for Academic Purposes to international students on a variety of programs. The INTO OSU instructional mission encompasses four student populations: Academic English Program ( IEP ) students, Undergraduate and Graduate Pathways students, and Special Programs students.
Applications submitted to this recruitment pool are reviewed on as needed basis. Qualified candidates will be contacted when positions become available throughout the academic year. Some of these appointments may be reviewed for renewal or transition to an instructional position on an annual basis at the discretion of the Director of Academic Programs.

Key Responsibilities
The percentages indicated are given as guidelines only and may vary:
80% – Teaching English as a Second Language ( ESL ) to international students at the INTO OSU Center
Duties include teaching in all programs, levels, and subject areas, including advanced reading/writing in credit and non-credit-bearing courses.
Duties may include teaching language, cultural awareness, and study skills to students preparing for future university study, and students in customized courses of study.
Teaching includes the use of Learning Management Systems ( LMS ) and other available technologies. Instructors typically teach 18 contact hours per week in a 11-week term. Each term includes ten weeks of teaching and one week of assessment. A typical teaching load could include any combination of levels and skill courses, including the possibility of two reading/writing courses. This may be subject to change depending on the enrolment patterns.
10% – Service and Professional Development
Stay current in the field and share expertise with the colleagues in and outside the center. Professional Development may include participating in staff development and professional training (including Professional Enrichment Days) and/or presenting at conferences.
Provide service to programs and students at INTO OSU and the university. Service may include serving on standing or ad hoc committees.

What You Will Need
MA in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages), Education, Composition
Demonstrated excellence in ESL teaching with a record of at least two years of relevant full-time experience.
Demonstrated engaging and culturally sensitive teaching skills
Ability to work well as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work productively, positively, and respectfully with all OSU and INTO OSU faculty, staff, and students
Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds
Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines.
Collegial, professional demeanor
Advanced level English language skills typically demonstrated by the completion of a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree through the medium of English
IT literate with ability to use all standard software to generate professional, well-presented documents and presentations including text and images
Interest in on-going professional development
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
What We Would Like You to Have
Demonstrated excellence in ESL teaching with a record of at least four years of relevant experience (at least two years working at IEP )
Teaching experience in a large university academic preparation program. International teaching experience in addition to US experience
Demonstrated experience in curriculum and assessment development
Interest and expertise in Technology Enhanced Language Learning ( TELL ) tools
