Job Summary
The College of Engineering is seeking an hourly Academic Wage: Research Associate. This is a part-time (12.5 FTE ), 12-month, fixed-term position.This position is anticipated to last approximately six months.
This position will provide documentation for a deployed edge-to-cloud ecological forecasting cyberinfrastructure and associated developed software. The documentation will support ongoing research in the Figueiredo lab group.
This position will also train and assist other students and team members on software use and configuration.

Key Responsibilities
80%Prepare and provide extensive documentation on the configuration and operation of a deployed system in support of the research project.
20%Train other students and team members on software use and configuration. Work collaboratively with staff, faculty, and students to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive research environment.
What You Will Need
PhD degree in computer engineering or science.
Extensive experience in programming with Python and bash shell scripting
Extensive experience with git and its use specifically for version control for time-series sensor data from environmental sensors
Extensive experience with the configuration, deployment, and management of Ubuntu Linux systems, reverse SSH tunnels, and remote management of intermittently-connected fitlet edge computing gateways connected to the Internet via commodity cellular phone plans and behind Network Address Translators (NATs)
Extensive experience in programming Campbell Scientific data loggers for environmental sensors; extensive experience with LoRA radios as well as Nebula and EdgeVPN virtual networks
Extensive experience with GitHub Actions, AWS S3 and Glacier cloud computing and storage platforms.
Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
Experience working effectively with diverse groups of students, researchers, and staff.
What We Would Like You to Have
Prior software engineering experience.
