PURPOSE
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC), in collaboration with the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI), is seeking dedicated professionals for a critical research project involving anthropometric measurements on Hispanic minors. This project requires a highly ethical approach and a commitment to precision and professionalism.
You will work with TAMU-CC researchers in a collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment to improve the safety of consumer products by measuring body size, body shape, body composition, grip strength, and actigraphy data of Hispanic children/youth ages from 3 years to 17 years. The role requires a strong understanding of ethical standards and data recording protocols.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Measuring/Data Collection: 70%
Set up, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment. Installs, operates, maintains, and/or repairs research equipment.
Conduct volunteer testing, including anthropometric and grip strength measures, body composition, 3D body scans, and actigraphy data.
Ensure all measurements and data collection adhere to ethical standards. Evaluates and summarizes results.
Record and manage data accurately.
Administration: 20%
Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers, communicating via phone or email.
Guide volunteers through completing volunteer recruitment form for participant pre-screening.
Review participants' personal information and determine eligibility based on the study's criteria.
Schedule study volunteers and their caregivers.
Provide detailed directions and parking information to participants' caregivers.
Confirm testing schedule with study volunteers one day prior to measurement sessions.
Coordinate any schedule changes, maintain study calendar, share in real time with other measurers and principal investigator (Dr. Jangwoon Park).
Training/Other: 10%
Complete one week of training on the study protocol at UMTRI in Ann Arbor, MI, in October. Travel expenses for training will be covered.
Complete all necessary onboarding training at TAMU-CC, including child protection and IRB CITI training.
Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.
Collaborate with research staff and participate in regular team meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Hi gh School Diploma or GED.
Three years of related experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Associate’s degree and one (1) year of experience
Fluent in Spanish and English language
Ability to work beyond normal business hours.
Familiarity with PC or Mac computers, including experience working with MS Word and Excel
Ability to set up, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment as well as install, operate, maintain, and/or repair research equipment.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work efficiently and manage time effectively.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
Attention to detail, and a high level of accuracy is essential.
Availability for travel to Ann Arbor, MI, for one week training session.

SALARY: $21.00 Hourly ($32,760.00 Annual, Approximately)
NOTE: This is a temporary PART-TIME position with 30 hours/weekly for 52 weeks, starting from [November 1, 2024] to [October 31, 2025]. The contract may be renewed or extended based on project needs and funding availability.
