TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION E049 Transportation Specialist I, II, III, IV-CC Area Office in Corpus Christi, Texas
Provides technical expertise and coordination for transportation programs involving design, building construction projects, construction of transportation systems, traffic operations, maintenance of highways and facilities, or bridge inspection and appraisal in accordance with Department standards. Assists with project planning and the development of policies and procedures for area of responsibility. Work requires contact with governmental officials, consultants, contractors and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.Essential Duties:Transportation Specialist I:Ensures compliance with specifications for devices; safety laws, rules, and regulations; and the Texas Manual on UniformTraffic Control Devices.Inspects roadways and evaluates road conditions.Performs data collection, evaluations, analyses, studies, inspections, forecasts, assessments, and/or plan development.Performs field reviews of construction projects to assist area engineers and project engineers in resolution ofconstruction problemsReviews construction records, inspection reports and records audits to ensure contractors build roadways, bridges andrelated structures in accordance with plans and specifications.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Transportation Specialist II:In addition to the aboveResearches and evaluates data, interprets and analyzes results, prepares reports and recommends solutions to problems.Transportation Specialist III:In addition to the aboveResearches and analyzes incoming correspondence, reports and other written materialTransportation Specialist IV:In addition to the abovePerforms complex data collection, evaluations, analyses, studies, inspections, forecasts, assessments, and/or plandevelopment.Performs complex field reviews of construction projects to assist area engineers and project engineers in resolution ofconstruction problems.Provides technical assistance in resolving construction problems related to contract administration.
