Northrop Grumman, Space Systems, is recruiting for a Carpenter Level 3/4 to join our team at the Promontory, Utah facility.

Position Summary:

This Construction Services Crafts position has an emphasis in and performs new construction related to plant facilities, and equipment, as well as preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair, in a lesser capacity.

Primary duties include:

  • Concrete and foundation work, wall and roof framing, sheetrock installation and repair, carpenter finish work, installation of commercial doors, roof repairs, concrete and epoxy repairs, etc.

  • Safe and competent operation of grinders, saws, planer, joiner, shaper, drill press, all power hand tool etc.

  • Strong ability to understand and read blueprints,

  • Knowledge of load bearing construction, roof pitches, and shop mathematics

  • Understanding of grades and elevations and ability to accurately use tools to acquire these (Laser transit, laser levels, etc.)

  • Understanding of OSHA, local and state regulations

  • Successful candidate must be able to pass a background check for the Federal Safe Explosives Act (SEA)

Job Qualifications:

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions, near moving mechanical parts and machinery, is frequently exposed to wet or humid condition and may be required to work flexible hours.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, and lift or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • 4 years of recent experience working in the Carpentry trade.

  • Position may be filled at a higher level requiring 6 years of recent experience working in the Carpentry trade.

  • Journeyman Carpenter

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with concrete to include both forming and flatwork.

  • Experience operating heavy equipment, backhoes, front end loaders, graders etc.

  • Experience with welding and metal fabrication.

  • Experience with painting.

  • Strong understanding of Internation Building Code.

Salary Range: $54,400 - $90,600

Salary Range 2: $64,700 - $107,800

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
