We have a challenging opportunity for a VP, Operational Excellence.

Job Summary:

The Vice President of Operational Excellence will be responsible for driving a culture of continuous improvement across the organization. This role will focus on enhancing operational efficiency, quality, and performance through the development and implementation of best practices, process optimization, and lean methodologies. Operational Excellence is a component of our company’s strategy.

The VP of Operational Excellence will work closely with senior leadership, regional managers, and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement, streamline operations, and ensure the highest standards of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the advancement of Lean roadmap, fostering continuous improvement and enhancing performance across the organization.

  • Lead the Lean Certification Program, ensuring that all key roles are equipped with the necessary Lean tools (problem-solving and others), and utilize them to manage our business effectively.

  • Champion Kaizen events to identify and address area of improvement, performance gaps and best practices for potential company-wide adoption.

  • Expand the Branch Accreditation Program to ensure the standardization of best practices, 5S, Leader Standard work, Visual and Daily Management, driving continuous improvement across all branches.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of transformation strategies, ensuring their effectiveness and sustainability.

  • Establish and monitor KPIs to measure the success of transformation efforts, ensuring timely communication to all stakeholders.

Builds Lean culture and capabilities at local level:

  • Lead the identification, analysis, and implementation of process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Standardization: establishes environment in which standard work is the basis for continuous process improvement

  • Responsible for individual Lean Leader certification and Branch Lean certifications within assigned District.

  • Applies standard “Learn / Do” approach in coaching/mentoring branch local leadership teams; teaching others will be one of the most important duties for this role.

  • Develop and implement quality management systems to ensure the highest standards of service delivery.

  • Trusts but verifies conducts Safety/Security/5S and Standard Work Instruction Compliance audits at every branch in assigned district.

  • Behavior-based leadership uses Influencer methodology to drive change management success at branch/district level.

Serves as program manager to deliver on strategic initiatives:

  • Ensures that all branches provide timely information, deliverables, and execution per program schedules.

  • Acts as the highest point of escalation for program issues.

  • Regularly reports to DVP and Lean Leadership on program execution and KPI's.

Builds and maintains strong customer relationships:

  • Lead collaborative efforts with leadership, local branches, and customers to proactively address Voice of Customer concerns and operative challenges via the standard Lean cycle of improvement (VSM – CIR – Kaizen).

  • Takes initiative to directly support and solve both short-term and chronic Voice of Customer issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain/Logistics, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or an Advanced degree is preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in operational excellence, process improvement, or related roles within the transportation, logistics, or cash management industry.

  • Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale process improvement initiatives and driving operational efficiency.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and make data-driven decisions.

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Further, understanding the numbers behind the business (e.g., P&L statement, balance sheet, net working capital, et al.) is critical to realize the full potential of delivering measurable results.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification a strong plus

  • Master’s degree in business, Operations Management, Supply Chain/Logistics, Engineering, or related professional field; commensurate direct experience in lieu of degree will also be considered.
