Wolters Kluwer Manager, Product Software Engineering in Coppell, Texas

As the Manager, Product Software Engineering , you will manage an agile software development team(s) in delivering scalable cloud applications, services, and solutions on time, with high quality, while fostering a culture of engagement with an environment conducive to innovation and career development.

You will report to the Director, Product Software Engineer and work a hybrid schedule (Two days in office and three days from remote home office) from our office in Coppell, TX.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own engagement and employee belonging. Create positive culture of a high performing team founded on psychological safety and transparency.

  • Engage in a career development discussion with each direct report resulting in 1-3 meaningful development goals to support growth in current role and/or longer-term career progression.

  • Conduct performance reviews, recommends candidates for promotion, and manages performance improvement plans as necessary.

  • Manage recruiting efforts to fill individual positions and selects candidates with the right skills and demeanor for hire.

  • Orchestrate the delivery of all milestones, releases, and tech debt reduction by working collaboratively across all disciplines.

  • Ensure CI/CD and SDLC governance: best practices are followed, tech debt is reduced, high quality releases are among the key performance indicators.

  • Embrace "Always On" development mindset and continuously focus on performance, resiliency, reliability, availability, and security.

  • Understand product roadmap (the why), Customer impact of the “what”. Works in partnership with Product Management to achieve product delivery goals.

  • Participate in creating Engineering roadmap based on product vision and technical stack.

  • Responsible for reviewing cost/benefit analyses of design alternatives and collaborates with technical staff before selecting final design.

  • Continuous identification and implementation of improvements to the development process.

  • Help scrum teams in resolving impediments that are outside their sphere of control. Help reduce dependencies and effectively manage them when necessary.

  • Incident response management. Drive short- and long-term solutions with RCAs to guarantee root cause resolution.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent software engineering degree or experience.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience leading Agileteams delivering 24/7 high available and scalable cloud solutions and services.

  • 5+ years people management experience with proven track record of creating positive high performing culture and advancing career growth for direct reports.

  • Coaches less-experienced staff members in a mentor-type relationship.

  • Superb communications skills! Communicates departmental and project strategies within area of influence. Communicates in a professional manner when interacting with less-experienced staff, peers, senior staff, and internal or external customers.

  • Strong organizational, planning, and execution skills. Ability to build and foster collaborative relationships across disciplines and work hand in hand to ensure product delivery goals.

  • Demonstrates the ability to actively listen to others.

  • Ability to influence, facilitate team discussions with different opinions, and focus the teams on achieving their goals.

  • Prepares and conducts presentations for various user areas and staff levels, including senior management.

  • Works with other work units and acts together toward common goals.

  • Fosters an environment in which others are encouraged to be innovative and are rewarded for innovation.

  • Strong technical background and deep understanding of the cloud technology stack. Microsoft Azure stack and prior experience in transactional system is a plus.

  • Experience in cloud development with Always On mindset that promotes performance, scalability, resiliency, reliability, availability, and security.

  • Experience in SDLC governance implementing CI/CD as a development methodology.

  • Demonstrates problem solving skills and ability to help team breakdown complexity into manageable tasks.

Travel Requirement:

  • Up to 10%.

  • Ability to travel independently to both domestic and international locations.
