Job Summary:

The Supplier Development Senior Manager is a new position responsible for Acuity Brands Supply Base Quality, Process, and Cost Excellence as a member of the Supplier Development Group. They will work cross functionally to find, audit, and develop new suppliers, assist in new product launches, and promote cost savings without sacrificing quality. Drive regulatory compliance and Acuity Core values into the supply base using our Better, Stronger, Faster operating system.

Job Responsibilities:

  • All responsibilities will be performed in a cross functional environment, involving and influencing Category Value Teams, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Suppliers.

  • Supplier Management – Monitor and Improve Supplier Metrics, driving toward Zero Defects and 100% On Time Delivery. Develop ways to prevent stock outs that function within the supplier context and the Category Strategy.

  • Supplier Improvement and Training – Identify key suppliers within the assigned categories for focused improvement projects and use problem solving skills and lean methodology to mitigate opportunities and promote excellence and loyalty to Acuity Brands.

  • Project Management – Assist with Category Sourcing / Desourcing initiatives. Tooling Transfers and buyoff, cost reduction, and other project-based activities within sourcing where project leadership is required.

  • New Product Launch – Assist the Category value teams with Supplier capacity analysis, run at rate, APQP/PPAP for new product launches, DfX, or VA/VE evolutions.

  • Risk Management – Assist with evaluation of new part risk based on predefined criteria and work to mitigate risk by requiring the appropriate level of APQP.

  • Team Leadership – Model integrity, Structured Problem-solving success, and negotiation skills.

  • Travel up to 50% may be required.

Job Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree - engineering preferred.

  • 10 yrs of previous experience in Supplier Development and Quality with at least 5 yrs in a leadership role.

  • Recognized as an SME for an Electronic, Custom Mechanical, or Electrical commodity relevant to Acuity Brands.

  • Strong written and verbal communication as well as organizational skills

  • Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office programs

  • Lean Six Sigma certification by a recognized LSS trainer.

Preferred:

  • Program Management Experience

  • APQP experience in Automotive or Aerospace

  • ASQ Certified Quality Auditor designation

The range for this position is $74,700.00 to $167,900.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
