Job Summary

Responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive global HR compliance strategy that addresses regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies. Collaborates with senior leadership to integrate compliance considerations into key business decisions. Provide oversight and guidance on HR compliance matters, with specific focus on Americas, Mexico, Canada and Europe.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Responsible for development, review and implementation of HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations in all jurisdictions where Acuity Brands operates. Partner with the HR teams and legal to address compliance gaps and mitigate risks.

  • Develop, deliver and partner on training programs and communication initiatives to enhance awareness of HR compliance requirements amongst employees and managers globally. Ensure that trainings and communications are tailored to regional nuances and languages as necessary.

  • Participate on the HR Governance Committee and partner on regular audits. Monitor HR compliance activities to assess HR compliance effectiveness and identify areas of opportunity and implement any corrective actions necessary.

  • Partner with HR, Legal, IT, Finance and other departments to address cross-functional compliance issues and initiatives to create a culture of compliance throughout the organization.

  • Prepare regular reports and presentations on HR compliance activities, trends, and risks. Anticipate future compliance challenges and emerging trends.

  • Provide leadership and mentoring for department and other company employees.

Skills and Minimum Experience Required

  • Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations across different regions, including Americas, Mexico, Canada and Europe.

  • The ability to navigate and understand the nuances of HR compliance requirements internationally including cultural awareness, sensitivity to regional differences and the ability to tailor compliance strategies accordingly.

  • Strong leadership skills and ability to inspire and guide cross-functional teams, including the capacity to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Communicate complex concepts in a clear and concise manner to various audiences in presentations, written reports and executive summaries.

  • Meticulous attention to detail.

Education (minimum education requir ed)

Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent

Experience (minimum experience required)

12 or more years

Preferred Education (i.e. type of degree)

Human Resources, JD or legal studies preferred

Preferred Experience (i.e. industry experience)

Certification in HR (e.g. SHRM-SCP, SPHR) or Compliance (e.g. CCEP) is a plus

Physical Requirements

Sedentary Work – Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking or standing is required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

The range for this position is $131,000.00 to $235,700.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
