Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the Occupational Health Nurse applies nursing principles aimed at conserving worker health and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. The primary focus is on promoting, protecting, and restoring workers' health, while ensuring a safe and healthy environment. This role involves providing first aid for minor injuries, determining appropriate medical care (hospital, physician, home, or return to work), conducting medical surveillance, and participating in hazard identification and mitigation training.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide first aid care for work-related injuries.
• Assist in determining and arranging the proper disposition of employees for further medical treatment or return to work.
• Conduct medical surveillance activities, including health screenings and monitoring.
• Assist in identifying potential workplace health hazards and provide solutions or training to mitigate risks.
• Participate in equipment calibration and maintenance.
• Provide technical advice and support to employees on health and safety matters.
• Participate in incident reporting, investigations, and general administrative duties.
• Conduct non-DOT urine screening if applicable.
• Review medical clearance for return-to-work activities.
Required Skills:
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen effectively and escalate issues when necessary.
• Basic computer skills for maintaining records and reviewing test results.
• Ability to work well with multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications:
• Education:
o Master’s degree in nursing or related field with 1 year of experience, OR
o Bachelor’s degree in nursing with 2-3 years of experience, OR
o 5-10 years of experience with L.V.N. or L.P.N.
• Licensure: Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) is required.
• Certifications: Certified Occupational Health Nurse is preferred.
