Summary:
Plans and engages in development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and manufactured products by performing the following duties.
Principal Accountabilities:
Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
Establishes programs to evaluate precision and accuracy of products.
Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
Prepares graphs or charts of data or enters data into computer for analysis.
Evaluates data and writes report to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
May coordinate with and guide staff engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
Participates in troubleshooting of quality and performance issues on the manufacturing floor.
Active member of New Product Introduction (NPI) teams with an eye towards validation of quality and performance standards.
Participate in Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis during new product introduction.
May compile and write training materials.
May conduct training sessions on quality control activities.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline; Mechanical Engineering major is preferred.
CQE is desirable, Master's Degree (MS) is preferred.
2-4 years of related experience, including experience writing equipment test plans and working in a manufacturing environment.
Strong mechanical engineering aptitude.
Reliability Engineering background a plus.
Position requires the ability to understand and interpret detailed documents and drawings.
Clear communication with fellow colleagues, and in giving presentations.
Responsibility for Quality Procedures or Direct Product Quality:
Adheres to Universal Quality System policies and procedures and uses Total Cycle Time principles and standard problem solving tools to continuously improve work processes.
Physical Demands:
Frequently required to access and manipulate various objects, tools, or controls.
Ability to use a computer on a frequent basis.
Remaining stationary for extended periods and needs to be mobile enough to navigate through work areas.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally from time to time; <10%.
