Emerson Manager Product Materials Compliance in Concord, New Hampshire

Administers and leads the global Product and Materials Compliance Programs in this exciting opportunity by planning, leading, and implementing various Enterprise initiatives as directed by the Product Environmental Compliance Director. This role will continue to build a collaborative environment as we offer our teams the creativity, efficiency, mentorship, and tools necessary for troubleshooting. This role requires technical/engineering expertise to interpret the requirements defined in global Substance/Materials and Ecodesign laws, resolving the impact on product design and materials, and lead programs that support business compliance.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Develops and promotes the critical initiatives of the global Materials Compliance Programs in collaboration with Director, by leading and implementing projects on a global level, including:

  • PFAS

  • US TSCA substances

  • EU RoHS substances with exemptions and exclusions

  • Stockholm Convention and Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs)

  • Global microplastics, phthalates, flame retardants, polymer additives, lead, etc.

  • Other substances as they arise in policy and/or legislation.

  • Stays abreast of current and emerging substance and material restriction laws including EU, UK, Korea and India REACH, global RoHS, US TSCA, Japan CSCL, UN Plastics Treaty, EU Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability, Ecodesign for Sustainable Products (ESPR), etc.;

  • Supplies critical planning and roadmap development efforts to support the Emerson legal team;

  • Establishes and implements a communication strategy with project partners;

  • Support the development of legal standards for the businesses to align with global Ecodesign and materials/substances restriction laws.

  • Educate business functional teams including engineering, compliance, and supply chain on ecodesign and material/substance restriction standards by developing and delivering training sessions, webinars, and in-person meetings;

  • Support the PEC Self-Assessment process

  • Collaborate with the Materials Environmental Compliance (MEC) Team in Manila on new substance restrictions and work with in-house legal team to develop standard customer response letters;

  • Support “design for compliance” by supplying the New Product Development process and working with business engineering teams to support technical interpretation of the requirements

  • Maintains collaborative working relationships with PEC Business Leaders, Business Unit Contacts, Legal Entities (Gatekeepers), IT team members, 3rd-party suppliers and other functions and assists as needed in the development of projects and pursuits;

  • Proactively and independently resolves complex challenges where precedent may not exist; and we believe in working in an inclusive environment.

  • Identifies and advances strategic improvement opportunities and other tasks as assigned; allows working in a hybrid work option.

  • May coach team members in leading and developing them; and coordinate a collaborative environment.

  • Drives team building, engagement, and culture change initiatives, allowing the opportunity to grow.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials/Polymer Science, or Chemistry

  • Seven (7) years of relevant work experience in engineering

  • Two (2) years of relevant work experience in Product Environmental Compliance and/or sustainability

  • Strong engineering background with product development experience, a solid understanding of supply chain procedures and practices, and understanding of manufacturing processes

  • Strong global environmental legislation knowledge on substance restriction laws including global REACH, global RoHS, US TSCA, PFAS and other similar laws

  • Excellent oral and written English language skills

  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels in the organization and multi-cultural environment.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Process improvement leadership experience is a plus

  • Project management experience is a plus

  • Master’s degree in engineering or business is a plus

Our compensation philosophy is simple: we pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during the annual merit review process. The salary range for this role is $100,300 - $125.600, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to this role
