JOB SUMMARY

The Radiologic Technologist performs a variety of technical radiography procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiographic diagnosis. The Technologist works under the direction of the radiologist to perform radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. This individual assumes the responsibilities of designated areas and procedures, and takes corrective action for minor equipment and or computer malfunctions. Room setup, patient positioning, patient screening, knowledge of Computed Radiography (CR) and/or Digital Radiography (DR), quality control, and radiation safety are the direct responsibilities of the Technologist.

Hours: Mon, Wed, and Fri 8:00am-4:30pm

Tues and Thurs 7:00am-3:30pm

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Maintains strict confidentiality of patient information, at all times.

  2. Provides radiation protection for patients, self and other healthcare workers in accordance with prescribed safety standards.

  3. Collects and reports appropriate patient information for accurate exam administration and physician reporting; completes computer data entry necessary to complete job responsibilities

  4. Screens, prepares, and customizes care for age or cultural appropriateness under the direction of a radiologist.

  5. Operates all radiography equipment necessary for patient care within the department.

  6. Ensures patient safety and provides for each patient's mental and physical well-being while performing procedures.

  7. Provides patient transfer and immobilization devices as required.

  8. Performs routine inspections and calibrations on equipment and promptly reports equipment and practice variances to management or Radiation Safety Officer.

  9. Complies with customer service standards as set by the Marshfield Clinic Health System.

  10. Maintains ethical relationships and cooperates with all personnel in the proper conduct of the department.

  11. Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position.

  12. Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  1. Provides education or training to students or staff as requested.

  2. Assumes supervisory duties of team leader and/or Assistant Manager as requested.

  3. Maintains accurate records as directed.

  4. Maintains orderliness, cleanliness, and supplies of assigned work areas.

  5. Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Graduate of an accredited radiography program, ARRT (RT) registered.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required: None

Preferred/Optional: 2 years of experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: Valid Radiographer licensure in an applicable state, must have ARRT (RT) certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
