Senior Extern to RN - H2B Requisition ID 2024-53636 Category Nursing Support Overview Performs basic supportive care to specified patients and families under the direction and supervision of an RN or Care Manager. Collects, documents, and reports data to the RN Care Manager but does not interpret data. Responsibilities Provides care using a Family Centered approach Utilizes Therapeutic Communication while monitoring the physical, psychological and social needs of patients and families Remains compliant with HIPAA, maintains professionalism and ensures confidentiality of patient information Collects, documents, and reports vital signs such as: Temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure or mean arterial pressure, heights, and weights. Completes screening questions and documents all items into the electronic health record. Provides basic supportive care pertaining to nutrition, mobility, and elimination. Promotes general patient safety and performs minor specimen collection and testing. Holds, positions patients and assists with procedures. Preps all materials and supplies as needed. Documents according to organizational standards, policies and procedures Identifies learning needs and participates in educational activities as appropriate. Qualifications Education Requirement: Last semester of senior year in a nationally accredited nursing program, baccalaureate preferred. Certifications: Current CPR (BLS for Healthcare Provider), required. Skills: Sound written and verbal communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated basic computer skills. Displays a positive presence and interacts with all levels of staff.
