Actalent Sanitation Technical Writer in Columbus, Ohio
Job Description
We are seeking an operationally minded and detail-oriented Technical Writer to support the Sanitation Department at our food manufacturing facility. The Technical Writer will play a crucial role in the standardization, development, and communication of sanitation programs and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) to drive continual improvement in our cleaning and sanitation processes. This position requires work experience in the development of technical documents, a strong understanding of sanitation programs in food manufacturing, and the ability to translate technical information into clear, user-friendly documentation.
This position is 3rd shift, M-F.
Responsibilities
Communicate with Sanitation, Quality Assurance, and Operations Management to develop a working knowledge of the facility’s current sanitation programs, key improvement priorities, and continual improvement action plans.
Develop, revise, and communicate updated Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) for cleaning and sanitation programs in an FDA-regulated food manufacturing facility.
Review, organize, and file completed sanitation forms and records.
Support Sanitation Management in the execution of continual improvement initiatives for sanitation programs, processes, and documentation.
Collaborate with hourly Sanitation and Production staff to support the implementation of new or updated SSOPs using hands-on training, One Point Lessons (OPLs), and Visual Work Instructions (VWIs).
Maintain a variety of forms and records for sanitation programs, including daily cleaning records, Clean-In-Place (CIP) system documentation, and the facility’s Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).
Conduct periodic audits of completed sanitation documentation to ensure it is complete and accurate to satisfy all applicable regulatory, customer, and internal company requirements.
Conduct other administrative duties, as assigned, to support Sanitation Management.
Qualifications
Technical writing experience in a manufacturing setting.
AS or BS in STEM and/or experience in a manufacturing setting.
Experience in developing technical documents.
Strong understanding of sanitation programs in food manufacturing.
Ability to translate technical information into clear, user-friendly documentation.
Work Environment
50% working in an office and 50% on the manufacturing/production floor. Food manufacturing facility with strong food smells all day long. Can get a little humid. PPE includes steel toed shoes, lab coat, gloves, and safety glasses. Will wear jeans and clothes they don't mind getting a little dirty.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
