JPMorgan Chase Risk Management - Business Banking Credit Officer - Associate in Columbus, Ohio

As a Credit Officer within the Business Banking line of business, you will be responsible for the oversight, management, and decision-making for new and existing credit extensions. Your duties will encompass the analysis of credit opportunities, structuring transactions, negotiating and reviewing terms, identifying risks, conducting due diligence, and exercising credit approval authority.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work in Business Banking Risk's Credit Risk Center, which is a fast-paced centralized environment.

  • Analyze and decisions credit requests, structuring transactions, negotiating and reviewing terms, identifying risks, conducting due diligence, and exerting credit approval authority.

  • Review loan requests submitted from across the United States in the Not For Profit and Municipal business segments.

  • Review requests submitted by Government and Not For Profit Relationship Managers, evaluate trends and potential risks that could impact the ability to repay the credit extension, and identify mitigating factors and/or additional information needs to offset these trends and risks.

  • Independently analyze and decision requests within individual loan authority or with the concurrence of the Credit Risk Manager in cases where credit exposure exceeds individual loan authority.

  • Construct supporting decision analysis, utilize loan grading tools, and determine documentation requirements, all chronicled in proprietary software.

  • Identifies, analyzes, and escalates credit risk issues to the respective business areas.

  • Work with Credit Risk Center staff to ensure consistent adherence to regulatory obligations and bank processes and act as a resource to Relationship Managers and less experienced Credit Officers.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • Completion of advanced courses in finance, accounting, and credit either through a bank sponsored training program or college course work.

  • Experience as a relationship manager, credit officer, or similar position requiring business banking/commercial knowledge and using credit judgment.

  • Ability to formulate and articulate objective views based on professional analysis.

  • Knowledge of credit philosophy and policies, loan documentation, and related legal issues.

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, as well as analytic and problem-solving skills.

  • Works effectively in a team environment, while assuming individual responsibility.

  • Hybrid work environment in Columbus, OH, United States.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Business Banking/Commercial portfolio management experience

  • 2 years experience in municipal or not for profit risk analysis
