Responsibilities * Evaluates patients with neurological and select orthopedic diagnoses to determine functional status using standardized measures or clinical observations; identifies patient strengths and deficits; establish goals; and develops an individualized treatment plan incorporating patient and family needs. * Administers therapeutic treatment to patients to provide optimal function and independence; utilizes modalities and other treatment techniques to meet each patients specific needs and achieve therapy goals; observes progress or changes in patients condition and modifies treatment plan accordingly. * Fabricates, recommends, or provides orthotics to maintain functional body joint positions and improve functional mobility. Fits patient and instructs patient and family on use of item. * Educates parents on their child's goals, therapy plan, and therapeutic activities to follow while at home. Documents instruction and evaluates ongoing compliance and understanding. * Maintains the administrative functions and utilizes appropriate documentation methods for individual caseload in compliance with documentation requirements of the hospital and accrediting associations. * Communicates patients' status and collaborates with physicians, third-party payers, and relevant healthcare providers. Recommends and secures patient referrals to community agencies. * Conducts formal and informal Physical Therapy educational programs for the hospital staff, students, and community. Delegates to students from accredited programs, licensed physical therapist assistants, and unlicensed personnel, supervising care provided. Licensure Requirement: State of Ohio PT Licensure, required. Skills: Competent in all adolescent neuro competencies.
