Patient Liaison - Emergency Department Main Campus (Evenings) Requisition ID 2024-53470 Category Nursing Support Overview 0.4-0.8 FTE, 16-32 hrs/week, evening shift, 3p-3a, every other weekend and every third holiday Benefits eligible. The Emergency Department Patient Liaison provides communication in a liaison role between Emergency Services patients, their families and Nationwide Children?s Hospital healthcare providers to promote satisfaction through positive patient and family relations. The liaison acts as a facilitator in the lobby of the Emergency Department for the benefit of the Emergency services patient and their families and friends. The liaison participates in continuous quality improvement and risk management activities to support the mission and values of Nationwide Children?s Hospital. Responsibilities 1. Provides communication in a liaison role between patients, their families, and the Emergency Services staff. Responds to parent/patient concerns. 2. Circulates in the lobby of the Emergency Department in order to facilitate communication with the families. Informs families of patient activities and departmental processes. 3. Identifies potential problematic situations involving patients and their families and/or friends and attempts to resolve any problems or complaints. Communicates actual and potential medical and customer service problems to the appropriate staff. 4. Serves as a resource for families in need of assistance. Utilizes appropriate resources when necessary to promote satisfaction and positive patient and family relations. 5. Supports and assists in the implementation of the mission, philosophy, policies, and goals of Children?s Hospital and Emergency Services. 6. Assists with family/patient complaint follow-up and resolution. 7. Investigates any patients choosing "Left Without Being Seen" and documents as needed. 8. Works collaboratively with the ED Charge Nurse, Social Workers, Physicians, Security Officers, and other staff to meet the needs of patients, families and visitors. 9. Participates in unit based committees, meeting and projects as appropriate. 10. Promotes the principles of family centered care. 11. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications
