Manager, Global Projects

Allied Mineral Products is a leading manufacturer of monolithic refractories worldwide. We are seeking a Manager, Global Projects to lead the manufacturing engineering global project team in the design and execution of engineering projects to increase efficiency, lower costs, improve quality, as well as reduce downtime of production and facility equipment.

Focus area for the Global Project Manager is to lead the organization in the development and implementation of project management best practices, through the phases of project initiation, definition, execution, and closing; deploying monitoring and controlling tools to effectively communicate project progress and status with global stakeholders. The Global Project Manager will lead the teams to deliver solutions applying technology, leveraging expertise in facility design, construction management, and manufacturing equipment installation. Will work closely with other departments and affiliates in the development of best practices and standards, and design of new systems or refinement of existing equipment and processes.

Key Duties:

  • Lead projects, evaluate technology and suppliers, and drive early involvement of stakeholders in scope definition process to ensure design for excellence in reliability, manufacturing, and operation, to achieve best total cost of ownership (TCO.)

  • Lead and manage the capital planning process. Develop budgets and justification for projects. Determine and track investments in technology, systems, and methods to ensure maximum return on investment (ROI.)

  • Lead the Global Plant Engineering project team to establish standards and best practices for project management execution globally.

  • Establish design standards for manufacturing equipment and facilities to support continuous improvement in the safety, quality, and efficiency of Allied’s global operations.

  • Maintain excellent lines of communication with all project stakeholders across our global affiliates and affected departments, aligning project plans, schedules, and resource allocations.

  • Develop and implement project management reporting tools, KPIs, and dashboards to keep global stakeholders informed.

  • Identify, engage, and manage contract services to support project execution.

  • Develop and manage Global Plant Engineering project team, defining goals and objectives, and providing timely performance feedback.

  • Responsible for training and development of team, including safety training in compliance with applicable industry standards.

  • Support Allied’s manufacturing operations around the world. Occasional travel to US or international locations may be required.

  • Independently maintain technical knowledge and remain current on emerging technologies.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, or other similar technical field, or equivalent work experience.

  • At least 10 years of related work experience in manufacturing, construction, or equipment installation.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project management experience preferred.

  • Results driven individual with strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills desired to engage effectively and collaboratively across a global organization to drive the best outcomes and achieve business objectives.

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and lead a multi-functional team and foster a proactive team environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and human relations skills required.

  • AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical experience desired.

  • Familiarity with SAP a plus.

Working Environment

  • Office environment.

  • Frequent exposure to Allied’s manufacturing facilities, which may include dusty, hot, or cold conditions.

  • Required to follow Allied Mineral Products’ Safety & Health policy and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as appropriate when in the production plant.
