Inpatient Complex Care Clinical Dietitian Requisition ID 2024-48300 Category Allied Health Overview The Clinical Registered & Licensed Dietitian, (RD, LD), is responsible for initiating and providing nutritional care to pediatric, adolescent, and select adult patients in assigned service lines; participating in the development, implementation and evaluation of department goals; and ensuring compliance with Joint Commission and external regulatory bodies. The Clinical RD, LD provides health education to the medical team, patients and caregivers, and the community as requested. The position may also participate in clinical research, quality improvement initiatives and hospital committees.The RD, LD demonstrates competence (age/developmental/medical/cultural) in skills defined in duties and responsibilities. When your child has a breathing problem, everything matters. This is a full time, Clinical Dietitian position specializing in Complex Care and Neurology/Neurosurgery. Coverage for this position is Monday through Friday, and includes a weekend and holiday on call rotation. The Complex Health Care Program (CHC) follows children with medical complexity. This includes children who: Have neurologic problems that result in loss of function and physical disability and Have serious chronic problems involving at least three organ systems and Are medically fragile as defined by using a lot of health care resources - they have frequent unplanned hospital admissions or have a high number of Emergency Room or specialty care visits Often they depend on technology such as feeding tubes and tracheostomies Responsibilities Initiates and provides complete nutritional care of inpatients and/or outpatients on assigned service lines. Develops, updates and/or implements standards of patient care applicable to the assigned patient population. Ensures high-quality standards consistent with current evidence-based practice (EBP) nutrition research. Completes nutrition screening and assessments according to established protocols to determine each patient's specific nutrient needs. Develops and implements appropriate nutrition care plan and documents nutrition-related information in the patient's electronic medical record (EMR), chart or written report (in the case of a private physician referral) as appropriate.
