ESU Officer - Protective Services Requisition ID 2024-52494 Category Security Overview ESU Officer - Protective Services The Protective Services Enhanced Security (ESU) Officer provides Armed Safety and Security services to assigned areas of the hospital and hospital grounds including, providing a heightened sense of awareness and response to events or conditions that may endanger patient, visitor, and staff safety. Augments law enforcement response to potentially dangerous situations in the hospital or on hospital grounds and responds safely, efficiently, and equitably to all related matters. Responsibilities Conducts random, frequent, patrols in assigned areas to detect and appropriately responds to safety and security issues or assists families. Responds to critical incidents that require the capability for or use of armed force. Collaborates with local law enforcement and documents activities and incidents. Intervenes in interpersonal conflicts safely and effectively to maintain order. Provides intervention or assistance through detention, restraint, or removal from the premises. Conducts preliminary investigations regarding those incidents that amount to criminal acts or any Protective Services intervention including, running reports, badge tracing, operations, or investigations. Attends various meetings regarding Security and Protective Services issues including, Code Violet, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and patient visitation restrictions. Qualifications KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: High School diploma, required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and/or equivalent experience and training, preferred. OPOTA 20hour Firearms Course Qualification. This qualification must be obtained BEFORE the Officer is approved to carry a firearm on duty for NCH. International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic and Advanced certifications. Additional certifications, qualifications and training may be required, as assigned by the Director of Protective Services. All certifications must be maintained and kept up to date.
