Production Team Lead

Job Description

The Team Lead is a pivotal role on the shop floor, responsible for ensuring all resources are ready for production, adhering to standards, resolving or escalating issues, training employees, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and motivating team members.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure production readiness by verifying trained employees, material, tooling, machines, documents, and PPE are in place.

  • Step into production roles as needed to meet objectives.

  • Ensure adherence to process sequence, quality checks, 5S standards, and material flow standards.

  • Act as a subject matter expert on all production process-related topics.

  • Collect and report data on KPIs, lead shift meetings, and present results to team members.

  • Alert required resources when issues arise and escalate unsolvable problems to the team leader.

  • Develop and visualize standards to improve processes and reduce waste.

  • Observe processes and collaborate with the team to implement improvements.

  • Use simple problem-solving techniques to address root causes of problems.

  • Apply 5S principles to enhance productivity and reduce process variation.

  • Optimize material, process, and people flow within the area.

  • Train team members using Training within Industry (TWI) techniques.

  • Increase the breadth and depth of team members' knowledge and motivate them to improve.

Essential Skills

  • Leadership experience, preferably in a production or manufacturing setting.

  • Experience in machine operation (CNC lathe operation would be a plus)

  • Quality inspection and documentation skills.

  • Strong understanding of continuous improvement principles.

  • Experience in supervising and motivating a team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Military or other leadership experience is a plus.

  • Experience in the manufacturing industry.

  • $2 shift premium for 2nd and 3rd shifts.

After 90 days

  • Employees will receive a $1 increase at their conversion to full-time status.

  • At six months of active service, they will receive a $550 bonus.

  • Insurance coverage begins at the start of the month following full-time employment. HSA and PPO plans are offered, along with pro-rated vacation based on start date.

  • Employees can earn a $75 monthly perfect attendance bonus and personal days based on quarterly perfect attendance.

  • The company offers a 401K with 50% matching up to 6%, company-paid life insurance, short-term disability,

  • Additional benefits include company-paid uniforms after conversion and safety shoe/glass vouchers after the probationary period.

Work Environment

This position is in a manufacturing environment, specifically for the 2nd shift from 2pm-10:30pm. Employees will work with various machines and tools, adhering to safety standards and wearing provided uniforms.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
