Cummins Inc. OCU-Non-Technical-Technical Documentation Associate - Specialist - 1st Shift in Columbus, Indiana

DESCRIPTION

Coordinates and manages the product requirements and product change management processes in order to ensure that specification documents (e.g. drawing, structure, standards and software) are clear, concise and valid across the organization. Works under minimal supervision.

Conducts audits of product specification documents (e.g. drawing, structure, standards and software) and ensures adherence to Product Release standards.

Provides information and education (as necessary) to stakeholders regarding standards and rules for documenting Cummins product specifications, including engineering, marketing, services and manufacturing processes.

Identifies internal stakeholders to solve queries and ensures compliance with product requirements.

Develops and implements practices and work instructions for the product requirements and change management processes.

Trains and supports less experienced Documentation Controllers.

Leads and/or participates in basic and/or complex improvement projects linked to the product requirements and related change management processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will primarily involve integrating designs for the 45/60/78/95 Liter High Horsepower diesel, gas, and marine engine programs. The work is conducted within a global team environment spanning three continents, aimed at meeting quality and delivery targets. The role also supports New Product Introduction, Cost Reduction, and Product Improvement projects.

Exercise sound judgment. Must have the ability to review several sources of information provided by Engineering, ask clarifying questions, and apply CES policies and procedures to determine the best course of action for timely and effective product release results.

Prefer five or more years of experience in design and/or product definition positions. Application or Manufacturing Experience and HHP background is a plus.

Knowledgeable on Product Definition Standards or have strong desire to learn.

Have knowledge of design and drafting practices, international standards and configuration management practices or have strong desire to learn.

Understanding of design to manufacturing chain a plus.

Proficient with Microsoft Access or other database software a plus.

Proficient with Windchill, IMS, COLS and NPID a plus.

Strong knowledge of engineering and design principles a plus

Education, Licenses, Certifications

High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience is required

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience in documentation and control, engineering discipline or related field.
