We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Optical Network Engineer to join our team. The Optical Network Engineer will play a crucial role in the design, development, and implementation of DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) systems for our telecom service provider. The position will be responsible for designing and building high-capacity optical networks, both long-haul and metro, that enable reliable and efficient data transmission. Responsibilities Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define network requirements and specifications for DWDM systems that support Wave, SONET, TDM (Time Division Multiplexing), Ethernet, and IP services. Design and architect optical network solutions based on DWDM, supporting Wave, SONET, TDM, Ethernet, and IP services to meet capacity, reliability, and performance goals. Perform feasibility studies and network simulations to evaluate system designs and optimize network performance. Conduct detailed analysis and testing of DWDM systems supporting Wave, SONET, TDM, Ethernet, and IP services, including characterization, performance optimization, and troubleshooting. Generate comprehensive documentation, including network design plans, test procedures, and configuration guidelines. Leverage familiarity with IRU (Indefeasible Right of Use) fiber and negotiate with other service providers to obtain strategic routes and increase our fiber footprint. Work effectively in a remote environment and collaborate with operational teams for hands-on work, leveraging their expertise. Ensure meticulous documentation of all network configurations, changes, and services in back office systems Qualifications Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics, or related field or the equivalent in experience. 5-7 years' telephony experience, including equipment engineering. Extensive experience with a minimum of 10 years in designing and implementing optical network solutions across multiple vendor platforms for telecom service providers. Proven track record of successful deployment and operation of DWDM systems supporting Wave, SONET, TDM, Ethernet, and IP services. Expertise in advanced network planning and optimization methodologies. Experience with long-haul and metro DWDM networks. Strong knowledge of optical network architectures, protocols, and DWDM systems supporting Wave, SONET, TDM, Ethernet, and IP services. Familiarity with optical transmission equipment, network management systems, telecom technologies, IRU fiber, and negotiating with other service providers. Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities.
