Description POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Materials Manager, is responsible for coordination with outside processors and serves as the main point of contact for all customers. Responsible for the overall control and movement of materials in and out of the plant. Is responsible for releasing purchased parts to suppliers, assuring that parts are received to meet production schedules, and assisting with related production scheduling. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Gather and analyze MOS information and Customer score cards. 2. Update and issue material releases to suppliers in order to maintain production schedules. 3. Serve as the main point of contact for all customers. 4. Coordinate prototype and launch activity with respect to the material control function. 5. Maintain a communication bond between plant and suppliers. 6. Address supplier concerns regarding quality, delivery, and services. 7. Review DDL and schedule shipments in the absence of the shipping Area Manager. 8. Identify area of concern with regards to shipping or production schedules. 9. Attend daily production meetings. 10. Promote team and internal advancement. 11. Authorized to initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, processes and quality systems. 12. Maintain and monitor all Customer order activity. 13. Perform other essential functions as assigned. Requirements JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Materials Management or Business related field is preferred and at least 2 to 5 years experience in purchasing or production control, preferably with an automotive supplier. SPECIAL SKILLS: Computer literate with experience in spreadsheet applications and Inventory Control. MAJOR PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: The employee is requires to stand, walk, push, pull reach overhead, and bend to the floor. Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds of force frequently. Visual activity for reading documents, computer screens, and office machines. WORKING CONDITIONS: Normally works in an office environment, but occasionally is subject to high noise levels from operating machines, physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.
