The Ritedose Corporation Packaging Maintenance Technician in Columbia, South Carolina
The Packaging Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and assisting in the operation of packaging equipment at Ritedose. This includes all areas of packaging department equipment. The technician must demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot, repair, setup, changeover, and operate all associated equipment pertaining to the packaging lines based on their level of training in support of the departments overall goals.
Responsibilities:
+ + Obtain and keep a good functional and working knowledge of all packaging department equipment.
Perform routine preventive and unscheduled corrective maintenance on packaging department equipment.
Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment containing technologies such as RTDs, inductive, photoelectric, and ultrasonic sensors, relays, pneumatic and mechanical systems, PLCs, robotics, servo controlled systems, VFDs, AC induction motors, control circuits, and vision systems.
Uses tools such as Vernier calipers, multimeter, thermal imagers, infrared tension meter, hand tools, taps, dies, drills, bandsaw, drill press, and hydraulic press.
Read electrical schematics, mechanical blueprints, spare parts and technical and manuals.
Use process data systems to identify production line inefficiencies and make adjustments to packaging equipment during production to achieve productivity goals.
Works to resolve complicated problems with a strong sense of urgency.
Perform changeovers on the wrappers and assists in changing over other equipment as needed.
Assist the packaging operators in the preparation and monitoring of the machines as needed.
Maintains complete and accurate documentation of activities.
Initiates ideas to improve equipment performance.
Assist in equipment installation and validation.
Follows Work Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures, good housekeeping practices, safety and health guidelines, and cGMP Guidelines.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 65 pounds of equipment, parts or supplies.
Ability to ascend or descend machinery using feet, legs, hands and arms up to 8 feet high.
Ability to maneuver into, around and out of machinery with limited access space.
Qualifications:
2 year technical degree or equivalent experience in a technical manufacturing maintenance environment
Mechanical and electrical experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Ability to diagnose and repair pneumatic systems, mechanical systems, controls, and 3-phase electrical systems.
Ability to read mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic schematics as well as troubleshoot and repair these systems as required.
