Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Responsibilities VA Careers - Pharmacy: https://youtube.com/embed/Fn_ickNBEws The Pharmacy Department at the Columbia Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina is actively recruiting for a GS-13 Pharmacy Supervisor (Inpatient Services Clinical Pharmacy Specialist (CPS)). The incumbent will be responsible for the professional and administrative management of the inpatient sections of Clinical Pharmacy Service, to include Acute Medicine/Intensive Care Unit, Critical Care, Community Living Center, Mental Health Inpatient, Medication Reconciliation, Formulary Management, Emergency Department/Urgent Care, Specialty Services, and Pharmacy Resident Staffing. The incumbent has the responsibility for supervising Clinical Pharmacy Specialists, Clinical Pharmacists and Clinical Pharmacy Technicians at the Columbia VA Health Care System. Expectations include managing people, maintaining effective interdepartmental relations, and collaboration with other services to accomplish the medical facility's mission and goals. The incumbent will be responsible for assuring that the program area is compliant with all regulatory and accrediting body requirements, designing and implementing orientation and training programs for staff, and developing and maintaining systems to monitor the performance of the staff activities. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for maintenance of all Pharmacy Service policies and procedures relative to their assigned area, and overseeing the creation and maintenance of inpatient and clinic medication order sets. The incumbent will be a Clinical Pharmacy Practitioner and hold a scope of practice in an inpatient section of Clinical Pharmacy Services. Grade Determinations: GS-13 (a) Experience. In addition to the GS-12 requirements, must have 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.(b) Assignments. For all assignments above the full performance level, the higher level duties must consist of significant scope, administrative independence, complexity (difficulty) and range of variety as described in this standard at the specified grade level and be performed by the incumbent at least 25% of the time.Clinical Pharmacy Specialist. The clinical pharmacy specialist (CPS) functions at the highest level of clinical practice, works independently under their scope of practice as defined by the individual medical center to directly care for patients. A CPS plays a defined role in budgetary execution and serves as a mid-level provider who functions to initiate, modify or discontinue medication therapy and as a consultant for intensive medication therapy management services. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: designing, implementing, assessing, monitoring and documenting therapeutic plans utilizing the most effective, least toxic and most economical medication treatments; helping achieve positive patient centric outcomes through direct and indirect interactions with patients, providers, and interdisciplinary teams in assigned areas; performing physical assessments; and ordering laboratory and other tests to help determine efficacy and toxicity of medication therapy.Pharmacists assigned to this position must demonstrate the following KSAs: Ability to communicate orally and in writing to persuade and influence clinical and management decisions. Expert understanding of regulatory and quality standards for their program area. Ability to solve problems, coordinate and organize responsibilities to maximize outcomes in their program area or area of clinical expertise. Expert knowledge of a specialized area of clinical pharmacy practice or specialty area of pharmacy. Advanced skill in monitoring and assessing the outcome of drug therapies, including physical assessment and interpretation of laboratory and other diagnostic parameters. Preferred Experience: Highly qualified candidates will have previous supervisory or team leader experience or PGY2 applicable to supervisory practice area (Acute Care, Critical Care, Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine, Geriatrics), and experience as a clinical pharmacy specialist with a scope of practice within the aforementioned practice areas.
