Oracle Corporate Architecture Policy Analyst in Columbia, South Carolina

Oracle’s Corporate Architecture team is responsible for setting and enforcing a wide variety of technology policies governing the security of our networks and products, uses of third party technology, services, and personnel, and consumption and releases of open source. The ideal candidate for this position would be a technical contracts manager, business operations manager or attorney with enough technical depth and experience to readily understand both the details of proposed technological solutions, and their implications vis-à-vis security, licensing and competitive issues. The position will require the ability to understand both the uses of third party technology in our products, and the licenses and other requirements that govern those uses, in detail. It also requires someone who is interested in learning what is going on across a huge range of product and service offerings, and whose personality will allow them to pragmatically help manage Oracle developers (and business people, and lawyers) into compliance with policy. Experienced cat herders will be strongly considered - if you have the right skills and are up to the challenge we would love to talk with you.

Experience of at least 5 years in software development, business operations, or program or product management is required. Pluses would include specific experience with product and/or network security, experience managing the integration of third party technology into product and service offerings, and experience dealing with licensing, contracts, or other intellectual property issues.

The candidate should have excellent teamwork, communication, and decision-making abilities.

A BSCS or equivalent is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

This position will have a variety of responsibilities revolving primarily around commercial inbound licensing, but also with opportunities to work in open source and other areas, involving both business and technical oversight and enforcement of Oracle policy across the organization. Some particular areas of responsibility will include:

  • Review and approval of commercial contracts for licensing third party technology for use in Oracle’s own products and services. Review will focus on compliance with Oracle policies on IP rights and other license terms, security, competitive positioning, and sustainability.

  • Audit compliance with policies on the use of third party technology and work with development teams to remediate any gaps in compliance.

  • Help drive requirements and specifications for tooling implementing our policies (e.g., tools for managing approvals of third party software and data, code scanning and bill of materials generation, and tracking applications of AI in Oracle products and services).

  • Review and approve proposed uses of open source software, new Oracle open source releases, and uses of third party data for use in training AI.

  • Review and approve contractor access to Oracle’s internal network and source code.

  • Coordinate with other groups including Legal, lines of business, other approvers, and cross-functional technology teams (e.g., UI and security teams) on architecture and policy matters.

  • Author and disseminate Corporate Architecture policy on third party technology, source code, security, open source, and commercial agreements.

US: Hiring Range: from $114,500 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
