ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company Configuration Management Specialist - Senior in Columbia, South Carolina
ASM Research provides services in support of the Military OneSource Program for military members and their families, similar to a commercial Employee Assistance Program (EAP). This program provides a broad array of information, resources, referrals, and counseling to about 4.7 million persons or “participants,” which includes military service members, their families, and eligible civilians at locations worldwide. Services are provided through a 24/7 contact center accessible via internet website, toll free telephone, secure real-time text/video chat, email, or postal mail and include non-medical counseling; financial counseling; tax assistance; spouse education and career information; adoption information; child care; Exceptional Family Member Programs (EFMPs); deployment support; disability information; elder care; educational services for adults, children, and youth; relocation services; pet care; health and wellness coaching; housing assistance; legal service referrals; single service member services; lodging; military benefits; relationship support; skill building services for parenting; spouse relocation and transition; peer-to-peer support; and support for everyday issues (e.g., locating a plumber or automobile mechanic).
The Military OneSource Configuration Management Specialist develops Configuration Management (CM) Plans, supports the Configuration Control Board (CCB), and verifies compliance with plans through auditing of software/hardware change procedures, software development, SW/HW testing, and SW/HW documentation.
Leads a cross-functional team in the daily management of configuration items and tracking configurations changes to systems and documentation. Responsible for end-to-end delivery of Configuration Management services in accordance with configuration plans.
Job Responsibilities
Participates in design reviews, configuration audits, and evaluations of software and hardware products.
Coordinates and maintains configuration management activities related to identification, control, audit and status accounting for software and documentation for systems.
Utilizes configuration management tools to support software/hardware version control, builds, and releases for the restricted website presence and prime contractor COTS tools.
Ensures Configuration Items (CI) are identified and properly documented and acts as a point of escalation for configuration processes.
Ensures the configuration management procedure is clear, scalable, appropriate, and efficient for business needs.
Implements hardware, software and system configuration management principles in sustainment and development environments.
Reviews and approves changes to the CM infrastructure, where applicable.
Prepares configuration documentations and maintain configuration management database.
Reviews and recommends improvements to existing configuration management processes.
Assists in management, maintenance, and automating of the configuration management tools.
Monitors Service Level Agreements to make certain they are being met.
Maintains project plans for projects in which configuration is involved and ensure proper completion of those plans and escalation where timeframes will be changed.
Analyzes proposed changes of product design to determine effect on overall product and system.
Coordinates with developers and engineers on matters related to change tracking,
Maintains configuration and data management policies and procedures to be utilized by department personnel and other participating functions to ensure a standard and cost-effective approach to the application of configuration and data management requirements is consistent.
Supports the development and maintenance of configuration management tools to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both internally developed and externally purchased commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products.
Supports the integrity, reliability, and reproducibility of developing products from conception to release.
Minimum Qualifications
US Citizen and fluent English speaker
Current, active DoD Secret security clearance
Bachelor's degree and 10 years of software, hardware, and/or systems configuration management experience (additional 4 years of work experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree)
Solid working knowledge of standard computer software (Microsoft Office business suite to include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project)

Experience managing complex IT projects in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge and understanding of software configuration management concepts, goals, benefits, and standard strategies to achieve those goals.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with systems administration and software development.
Experience working with development teams and project managers to develop and maintain configuration baselines (development, test, production, etc.) supporting complex systems and project engineering development and support models.
Possess excellent customer-service oriented skills with a teamwork mentality.
Experience with a CM tool such as ServiceNow, CLEARCASE, RAZOR, or Team Foundation Server (TFS).
Knowledge of System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and disciplines.
Experience with ITIL, IC Agile or other process improvement methodologies preferred.
Strong experience in requirements gathering.
Must be detail oriented, analytical, and self-directed to make decisions supported by thorough data analysis.
Ability to lead a team and to form strong relationships within a matrix organization at all levels.
Compensation Ranges
Compensation ranges for ASM Research positions vary depending on multiple factors; including but not limited to, location, skill set, level of education, certifications, client requirements, contract-specific affordability, government clearance and investigation level, and years of experience. The compensation displayed for this role is a general guideline based on these factors and is unique to each role. Monetary compensation is one component of ASM's overall compensation and benefits package for employees.
