Control Panel Technician

Job Description

  • As a Control Panel Technician, you will play a critical role in the assembly, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting of control panels.

  • Because we are a small company, you will also be expected to collaborate closely with our design engineers, providing valuable feedback on electrical and mechanical drawings to optimize panel designs.

  • Additionally, you will assist with basic facilities maintenance and repairs.

  • The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with industrial control panels, a solid understanding of electrical and mechanical principles, and the communication skills necessary to work cross-functionally with different teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and wire control panels according to electrical and mechanical schematics, layout drawings, and wiring diagrams.

  • Perform point-to-point wiring, component mounting, and labeling using correct tools and practices.

  • Conduct functional tests and verify correct panel operation.

  • Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical issues.

  • Identify design or assembly errors and implement corrective actions.

  • Review and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, providing timely feedback to design engineers for continuous product improvement.

  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, testing results, and any modifications.

  • Ensure all control panel builds meet relevant standards, including UL508A (if applicable).

  • Adhere to company safety policies and OSHA regulations when operating tools and machinery.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering and production, to streamline processes.

  • Suggest process improvements to enhance product quality and reduce lead times.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics.

  • Basic understanding of UL508A standards.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and basic computer skills for data entry and documentation.

  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Required).

  • Vocational training or certification in electrical, mechanical, or related field (Preferred).

  • Previous experience building and wiring control panels or related industrial electrical experience (2+ years preferred).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr.
