VISION FOR POSITION

The Operations Assistant is a committed member of a school team that is closing the opportunity gap. The Operations Assistant acts as the first point of contact for our families and scholars. They will lead the health office and support students when they feel unwell. They create an inclusive and welcoming environment for our parents and scholars. Their work enhances key operational functions of the job impacting both families and staff. This opportunity is ideal for someone who is energized by challenging work and is able to work collaboratively across lines of difference with an emphasis on cultural sensitivity and inclusiveness.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:

  • Manages all aspects of student transportation (6-7 hours per day) as follows:

  • Develops and implements transportation safety protocols, training, and ongoing compliance

  • Serves as liaison between families and contracted transportation vendors

  • Investigates, documents, and resolves incidents related to safety and student behavior in partnership with relevant stakeholders including families, school administrators, and transportation vendors.

  • Tracks and remediates all student and vendor issues such as late vehicles and updates families as needed.

  • Leads preparation for daily dismissal and ensures all systems are running smoothly.

  • Collaborate with the special education team, social workers, and administrators to coordinate specialized transportation for students with disabilities and students experiencing homelessness.

  • Assist operations team (1-2 hours per day) in all front office operations, including front desk duties, greeting visitors, directing families to the appropriate person, etc. and provides coverage for operations team members when they are absent.

  • Maintains and manages student information and transportation management data systems.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS, DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

General Requirements

  • Education required: High school diploma, 2 or 4 year degree is preferred

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working in operations within a school environment

  • Experience working with children

  • Second language preferred: Spanish or Somali

Knowledge & Skills

  • Outstanding attention to detail and willingness to get the job done

  • Excellent organizational, planning, and implementation skills

  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with multiple stakeholders

  • Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment

  • Competency in MS Office and Google Suite

  • Excel and Google Sheets experience preferred

  • Contemporary office practices, preferably in a public sector or K-12 environment.

  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with school staff, parents and guardian, and external partners

  • Proper telephone and e-mail etiquette.

  • Work collaboratively with others.

  • Maintain punctual and consistent attendance.

COMPENSATION

Salary for this position is very competitive and commensurate with experience.
