This is a term-limited position in the Office of Inspector General's. Employment is anticipated to last one (1) year. The selected individual will be required to sign a waiver of retention rights which infers no rights to retain a state-classified position beyond the assignment. Description of Job

The position will be responsible for the review of applications submitted for assessment of eligibility for employment. Query confidential data from the Colorado Bureau of Investigations, National Crime Information System and other criminal justice databases; analyze and interpret criminal history; research and obtain final dispositions of charges and other legal documentation; conduct preliminary background search in order to identify individuals that are not eligible for employment based on criminal history and/or behavior which would preclude an individual from employment; monitor data accuracy and correct errors. Ensure proper application of pre-employment standards to submitted applications.

Position will manipulate various database tracking systems for pre-employment actions; manage data from supplemental applications.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Position ensures that employment criteria is being met and determines eligibility of employment by accessing suitability of applicant within CDOC Standards;

  • Position researches legal documentation from civil and criminal courts, District Attorney's office, and police reports relating to criminal history and/or behaviors of prospective applicants;

  • Position queries Colorado Bureau of Investigation template to retrieve confidential criminal history information from NCIC/CCIC and compiles the information to be used in the background integrity interview process;

  • This position has the authority to determine if the applicant is eligible to continue in the

employment process;

  • Position is responsible for contacting former employers and various judicial entities to obtain clarification of information provided on supplemental applications or during integrity interviews in order to facilitate the continued move through the background process;

  • Manage and manipulate information within the Pre-Employment database and merge with various software to generate letters and communications;

  • Position will assist in the redaction of criminal and background investigation files;

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Four (4) years of *technical experience whichmustinclude two (2) years of experience in searching, querying, and modifying extensive and complex computer databases to obtain and analyze specific information; working in an environment requiring significant levels of confidentiality; and providing exceptional customer service working with diverse populations and intense subject matter. Any experience less than full time will be prorated.(This experience must be clearly described in your own word, within the work experience of your application to meet this requirement.)

*Technical work is skilled work in the practical application of specialized techniques, procedures, practices, or methods in order to accomplish tasks. The specialized work is a direct extension of a professional field which requires an understanding of that field in order to carry out the practical nature of the work.

Substitution:

College, university or non-correspondence school course work in criminal justice, criminology, business, psychology, sociology, or a social sciences related field may substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
