    Responsibilities:

    The following responsibilities have been condensed to help provide a clear and comprehensive overview of the key roles and duties expected for the positions advertised:

  • Systems Engineering Leadership:

  • Lead the design, development, integration, testing, and deployment of large-scale enterprise software and hardware systems.

  • Manage and oversee multiple development teams and ensure comprehensive integration and deployment pipelines.

  • Project and Program Management:

  • Coordinate and manage various internal projects, ensuring adherence to Systems Engineering processes and standards.

  • Organize and lead cross-disciplinary teams, facilitating collaboration across geographically separated members to support mission objectives.

  • Technical Expertise and Development:

  • Develop and mature technologies through all Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs).

  • Provide expert guidance in space system design, ground systems engineering, and satellite command and control.

  • Operational Support:

  • Support highly classified space control programs, providing operational expertise in command and control infrastructure.

  • Engage with Space Force operators to ensure effective user/operator engagement and comprehensive user experience design.

  • Agile Methodology Implementation:

  • Implement Agile processes for large-scale software and hardware programs, focusing on continuous integration, testing, delivery, and deployment at scale.

  • Guide agile product ownership and operational workflow design to enhance software development.

  • Communication and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Maintain effective communication with leadership, stakeholders, development teams, and industry communities.

  • Coordinate with various DoD organizations to align architecture efforts and collect mission partner requirements.

  • Modeling, Simulation, and Risk Management:

  • Conduct modeling and simulation on various platforms, integrating tools across multiple organizations.

  • Develop and maintain system risk programs, defining risk processes, identifying risks, and creating detailed technical risk burn-down plans.

  • Documentation and Compliance:

  • Develop, update, and coordinate program documentation, ensuring compliance with IC, DoD, Air Force, Space Force, or SSC processes and procedures.

  • Lead the preparation and execution of ACAT-like program documentation and technical design reviews.

  • Cloud and Data Solutions:

  • Implement scalable cloud-native (IaaS and PaaS) and data as a service (DaaS) solutions within commercial industry standards.

  • Technical Development and Publications:

  • Contribute to professional publications, patents, or advanced degree research, demonstrating expertise and thought leadership in relevant fields.

Education/Qualifications

Qualified candidates must possess an active security clearance (Top Secret or TS/SCI), and be located in or willing to relocate to Colorado Springs, CO, El Segundo, CA or Huntsville AL.

  • 8+ years of experience working in at least one of the following roles:

  • Senior Cyber/Network System Engineer

  • Ground/Communications Engineer

  • Senior Ground Systems Engineer

  • Senior Network System Engineer

    The following requirements aim to cover a wide range of technical, managerial, and operational expertise necessary for the positions advertised:

  • General Systems Engineering and Program Management

  • Minimum of 10-20 years of progressive systems engineering experience for large-scale enterprise software and hardware engineering projects, including at least 2-5 years of IC or DoD experience in deploying such solutions for operational missions.

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of SAP experience working across complex mission partners and classified programs.

  • Experience with Agile methodology at scale, modern commercial industry software engineering practices (DevSecOps, SRE, vertical slice, etc.), and best practices for continuous integration, testing, delivery, and deployment.

  • Effective management and leadership experience with large-scale programs encompassing multiple development teams and a comprehensive integration and deployment pipeline (more than 100 personnel).

  • Effective communication with leadership, stakeholders, and development/industry communities.

  • Knowledgeable about IC, DoD, Air Force, Space Force, or SSC processes and procedures for delivering systems to production environments.

  • Familiarity with highly available, scalable cloud-native (IaaS and PaaS) solutions and highly scalable data as a service (DaaS) solutions within the commercial industry.

  • Highly desired: Experience with SSC or mission partner space control or space situational awareness mission area programs.

  • Technical Expertise and Leadership

  • Expert in remote site surveys, equipment transportation, installation, checkout, testing, and maintenance.

  • Expert in satellite C2 ground systems engineering and analysis.

  • Expert in highly classified space control space, ground, and C2 systems (concepts, development, build, and test).

  • Expert in maturing technologies through all TRL levels.

  • Expert in architecture and technical requirements development.

  • Expert in systems engineering and program management focused on development, testing, and employing information operations, space, and airborne systems.

  • Expert in space system design, development, integration, test, and operations.

  • Demonstrated expertise through professional publications, patents, or advanced degrees (Master's or higher).

  • Expert in multiple space control-related technologies, including but not limited to optical sensors, radars, electronic support, signals intelligence, and communications.

  • Highly knowledgeable in space situational awareness architecture development and capability limitations.

  • Project and Program Management

  • Demonstrates the ability to process, receive, track, coordinate, and store large volumes of program-critical information.

  • Demonstrates ability to lead, manage, and execute various internal projects while adhering to Systems Engineering processes.

  • Highly knowledgeable in leading projects facilitating human resources, training, administrative actions, critical staffing actions, and collaboration across multiple disciplines to deliver products.

  • Demonstrates ability to coordinate and organize multiple geographically separated team members as required to support the mission.

  • Knowledgeable in managing technical developmental projects with an emphasis on network development projects, network architecture, integrating cyber efforts, systems engineering, requirements development, software engineering, and algorithms.

  • Knowledgeable in systems engineering, technology development, government acquisitions, and space and intelligence systems.

  • Knowledgeable in interfacing with the cyber and DoD intelligence community.

  • Specialized Technical Skills

  • Expert in wide area network architecture planning, design, and applicable open systems interconnections layers.

  • Highly knowledgeable in Information Technology Service Management.

  • Highly knowledgeable in architecture and system requirements development.

  • Experience performing government space systems program support efforts to develop, update, and coordinate program documentation.

  • Experience with engaging various DoD organizations to coordinate architecture alignment efforts and mission partner requirements collection.

  • Operational Expertise

  • Extensive experience working on highly classified space programs and with the operational command and control of space systems.

  • Experience in Agile processes and implementation for large-scale software and hardware programs with an emphasis on user/operator engagement and comprehensive user experience design.

  • Expertise in operational workflow design, agile user persona management, and user journey development.

  • Expertise in agile product ownership principles and best practices for guiding effective software development.

  • In-depth knowledge of Space Force command and control infrastructure and platforms.

  • Experience working directly with Space Force operators.

  • Modeling, Simulation, and Risk Management

  • Proficient in modeling and simulation on various platforms and in interpreting results; experience with integrating numerous different modeling and simulation tools across multiple organizations.

  • Background in handling logistics and sustainment of large integrated systems (preferably space systems).

  • Experience with building and maintaining a system risk program, including risk process definition, risk identification, and detailed technical risk burn-down plans.

  • Direct applicable experience in one or more of the following areas: space control, network integration, RF engineering, computer science, electronic warfare, or systems engineering.

    For this role, the compensation range for candidates in Colorado is ($79,429.00 - $218,904.00).

    Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors (including the specific role) and commensurate with qualifications & experience. FTI has a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
