Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Network – Network Engineer SME (24-293) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate and synchronize autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.

The candidate will serve as a Network Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) in this role. The candidate will be at the forefront of network design, helping solve complex technical problems, leading team members in technical execution, and helping train engineers with less experience. The candidate will work within an agile team and plan work based on customer requirements and program contractual agreements. Apply extensive expertise to solve complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Responsible for helping junior engineers with tasks if needed. Perform Work without appreciable direction. May function in project leadership roles and represent the organization as prime customer contact on significant technical matters on contracts.

Essential Functions:

  • Plan, deploy, integrate, and test upgrades to the C2BMC network to operational sites.

  • Responsible for traveling to remote locations to lead and perform network installations, independently perform troubleshooting, and provide status updates to Program personnel.

  • Create, maintain, and present KPIs and other metrics related to the Network Enterprise.

Basic Qualifications:

Please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume.

  • An active Secret clearance is required to start.

  • 9 years with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related field; 7 years' experience with a master’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related field; or 13 years experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Must possess a DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA)

  • Must have effective presentation skills using Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio drawing tools.

  • Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment with other highly motivated network engineers and independently on large field projects.

  • Must have Network Design & Development experience.

  • Must know how to design, implement, and manage Network Management and Monitoring Systems.

  • Must have extensive experience with networking protocols.

  • Must have proven troubleshooting expertise.

  • Must have experience planning and supporting the deployment of network infrastructure. Must have experience leading projects and training individuals on technologies.

  • Must be able to travel to alternate work locations to execute job duties such as deployments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret clearance is highly desired.

  • Experience loading and modifying MIBS and SEED files, writing scripts for network automation, and developing fix-lets to be used with IBM BigFix to efficiently deploy updates to the fielded environment.

  • JNCP or CCNP Certification.

  • Prior C2BMC experience.

  • Developing KPIs, tracking other metrics, and creating reports.

Additional Northrop Grumman Information:

Salary Range: $109,900 - $164,900

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
