Job Overview
The Senior Certified Instrument/Sterile Processing Technician assumes a pivotal role in safeguarding patient safety and infection control by overseeing the thorough decontamination, reprocessing, and maintenance of surgical instruments, endoscopes, and patient care equipment. This role demonstrates a high level of proficiency in operating various surgical instrument sterilizers and decontamination equipment, consistently upholding, and setting and maintaining the highest standards for sterile processing and safety measures.

Department Name: CSH Sterile Processing Job Status: 12 hours/week Shift: Weekday evenings 3/ 4-hour shifts or 2/ 6-hours shifts Tuesday - Thursday. Weekend call will be required after orientation call will happen about once every 8-9 weeks. Some holiday shifts may also be required.
Qualifications
Education: High School or GED Experience: 2 years of surgical instrumentation in a hospital sterile processing environment Certification(s): Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT)
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform. 1. Inspects and assembles surgical instruments, equipment, trays and packs. 2. Fills surgery case carts from predetermined listings; may deliver case carts to surgical floor. 3. Identifies and reports supply, equipment, and procedure problems. 4. Assists in the orientation and continuing education of lower-level Sterile Processing Technicians, fostering a culture of collaboration and effective communication within the department. 5. Maintains established departmental standards by adhering to policies and procedures, contributing to quality assurance initiatives. 6. Renders used items clean and decontaminated manually or mechanic lly by following established policies and procedures in the decontamination area for instruments, supplies, carts and equipment. 7. Participates in achieving departmental sterilization objectives by following policies and procedures related to assembly, inspection, sterilization, storage, and proper handling of instrument trays, supplies, and equipment. 8. Develops and maintains expert knowledge of surgical service, sterile process, or instrument classification. 9. Collaborates with other Sterile Processing Departments within the organization to address staffing challenges. 10. Identifies and report supply, equipment, and procedure problems. 11.
