The Information Transport Service (ITS) Gateway (I-GATE) system supports secure messaging and information sharing with internal and external systems within the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) environment. In order to fulfill this mission, Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is seeking a Principal Systems Administrator to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located at Hawaii, Colorado, Washington, DC, or Tampa, FL. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Official Information Exchange (OIX) program.

Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform as a Windows 2019/2022 System Administrator.

  • Manage and maintain security patches for the Windows environment.

  • Develop and document technical procedures.

  • Read, modify, and create shell script and scripts in various other languages.

  • Learn new technologies on own and work effectively independently, while still coordinating actions as required.

  • Lead actions with peer systems administrators, network engineer, security teams, and software and hardware engineers.

  • Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.

  • Provide backup and recovery services; manage file systems and disk space; manage virus protection on a routine basis.

  • Test new releases of products to ensure compatibility and minimize user impact.

  • Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed.

  • Make recommendations to purchase hardware, software, system components.

  • Interact, meet, discuss, and troubleshoot issues with vendors; evaluate vendor products, services, and suggestions.

  • Adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines in all cases.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience OR Master's degree and 3 years of experience; 9 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of completed degree

  • In-depth experience in Northrop Grumman’s I-GATE administration

  • Expert in Information Transport Service (ITS) operations knowledge

  • Windows Server 2019 or later versions administration

  • SQL 2019 or later versions administration, including backup

  • Active Directory design and implementation

  • IIS administration and troubleshooting

  • Microsoft Windows clustering

  • SAN operations and maintenance

  • Security updates in compliance with Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) policy

  • Security+ certification

  • Must have an active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Polygraph

  • Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Windows System Administration certification(s)

  • Solid understanding of system back up and restoration

  • Scripting language (VBScript, PowerShell, Cscript, etc) knowledge

Salary Range: $101,900 - $177,000

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
